While this may be the best hotel in Blackwaterfoot, that isn't saying very much. It did provide a nice close location for Shiskine Golf, and the room, though tiny, was nicely furnished with a comfortable bed. Carpeting needed a good cleaning. Breakfast was fine. For the price, though, in comparison to B & B values, our expectations were much higher.... More

My friend and I were cycling around Arran when we got caught in a blustery downpour - drenching us to the bone and washing away our love of cycling! Then out of the grey haze came Blackwaterfoot Lodge! Warm and inviting with grand armchairs, crickety corridors and plenty of island charm. The owner, a physisit by trade was friendly and... More

Hotel was highly rated but disssapointing. The room was spacious but the bathroom was tiny and in need of reapair. The toilet papaer holder was falling off the wall. the toilet tank cover was broken and rusted. There was no shampoo. The sink was in the bedroom but had no place to hang a towel. We left after one night. More

All these guests had to do was tell us about the toilet paper holder, which was OK a week ago, and ask for shampoo or anything else they needed. Not true about lack of hanging space for a towel. We waived our cancellation policy on the understanding that hurricane Irene had flooded guest's home, which was the reason they gave... More

Stopped here when we were running out of petrol late on a Sunday evening... Good hospitality, great lounge bar. Room was spacious with a view on the sea. Breakfast is 8 'till 9, don't come late or the young lithuanian servant will stubbonly tell you you're too late and make you feel very very bad.... More

Room clean and attractive, electric heater in room did not work, when I mentioned this the owner Ian said he would check it, and that it had been working when last the room was used. More

From the beginning our group of ten and their various needs were met with equanimity and patience. On arrival we were gently guided through the house: a live fire in a the public sitting room, well stocked bar, bedrooms with verdant Arran views etc. Piece de resistance was a superb dinner menu which included melt in the mouth lamb, vegetarian... Very clean rooms with comfortable beds. Food was fab. Very enjoyable visit, will return! This was the original Victorian hotel in the Village and has retained many of the period charms. The conservatory and gardens were a bonus on a lovely weekend of warm sunshine. The hosts are charming but there is a wierd arrangement in such a small place... More

It really is a shame, because this is the closest B&B to one of the best Golf Clubs in the world, Shiskine. I hate to say this (& I do) but the carpet in my bedroom was covered in other peoples hair. I only know this because the compeed plaster on my foot (over 6 rounds of golf later) collected... More

We would have been very happy to discuss the problems you had with someone else's hair on your socks. As to the place being outdated I couldn't agree more. Tired too. Grubby is harsh. But the customer is right. Especially about the clean sheets and good night's sleep. More

Food and service is excellent. The bar is friendly and quiet with some real ales from Arran, a good selection of malt whiskys, and a selection of games (Chess, draughts, backgammon, dominoes, etc). We were there for the curry buffet on a Sunday evening; probably the best curry this side of Calcutta. More
