My husband and I had arranged to stay for two nights last summer. What seemed a beautiful country house in a fantastic location and reasonably priced, turned out to be a nightmare. Firstly we were greeted at the door by a younger male of the family home. He wasn't very clean and didn't look the full shilling, the whole place smelt awful, not just him. After the day in Newcastle we decided to have an early night and retreat to our room. We were lucky enough to get a room on the top floor and keep out of everyones way, or so we thought. My husband is a bad sleeper and decided to take a walk in the middle of the night, as he opened the door to leave our room he startled the older son, wearing nothing but a vest with a key to our room. When questioned he claimed another guest had reported a disturbance from our room (whilst we were sleeping).

We didn't stay for breakfast, checked ourselves out early that morning and will never recommend or return.
