We have just returned from a 5 day break at the Kings Arms and had an absolutely wonderful time from the moment we arrived. Our hosts, Pete & Cathy are a blueprint for hospitality that other hotels could learn from, and staff Charlie & Harriet personified the ethos of the owners. Nothing was too much trouble. First class breakfasts and... More

Visted this establishment as part of a large group meal this week. I have to say it was the worst meal I feel I've ever had. By the time the starter soup was served there was a little more than half an inch in the bottom of the bowl and very obvious it had been watered down to go further.... More

We stayed here for a night for my boyfriends birthday on 16th April and it was lovely. The staff were friendly, the room was cosy and the breakfast filling. The bed was actually one of the comfiest i have slept in! We both really enjoyed our stay and will not hesitate to book in here on our next trip.

Great cosy open fire pub/hotel, great ales, food dinner and breakfast, great service, great location for travelling, checking out the many independent shops, and play area for our 6yr old. Felt very welcomed, They warn you that they are doing a re-furb, but didnt impact our stay, and I wish them all the very best best, as what we saw... More

We booked 4 rooms at the hotel as part of a wedding party. There was a very warm welcome from Pete and Cathy, and nothing was too much bother. Some of the rooms were a little tired, but the owners are working to upgrade the decor, but all the rooms were very clean and comfortable. Pie night with a free... More

A comely but worn bed and breakfast hotel, good food and range of independent ales in the bar. The bedrooms are comfortable and as the building is old, are large/roomy. Be aware the hotel is under going a lengthy refurbishment so may not suit all tastes. In the interim the rooms are perhaps a little overpriced - compared for example... More

My family of seven stayed here to attend a funeral so were happy that we were all together.Yes the hotel is in need of a lot of TLC but that did not bother us as the hospitality of the couple who run it made up for it.I agree that the female bar staff were very friendly but the guy was... More

We've just returned from a 3 night stay as a party of 9 golfers. If ever there was a couple (Pete and Cathy) who deserve success, it is this extraordinarily hard working pair. They looked after us from first thing in the morning with delicous breakfasts (you must try the scrambled egg!) to evening meals using local sourced food and... More

A group of us very last minute decided to take a long weekend and had hoped to stay in Salcombe. We could only find 3 available rooms at the Kings Arms and we are so glad that this was the case as otherwise we would never have come across such a gem of a hotel. It is very difficult to... More

Peter and Cathy have a tremendous job and an even bigger opportunity in breathing new life into this splendid old building. Things are not perfect, even the refurbished room that we stayed in bears the scars of corners being cut but it is nevertheless comfortable and clean. This couple deserve your support and will do all they can to make... More
