I've always believed that it's not the place that matters but who you are with. I now believe that the place plays such huge part in that experience. The Two Bridges provides the atmosphere for the most excellent of breaks! We were welcomed by three very white, very big geese who made sure we made as rapid an entrance to... More

Four of us called in for lunch on a weekday and were shown into the dining room. This was a large room, with attractive place settings on the tables and interesting paintings on the walls. We ordered lunch, comprising soup and a main course. The soup (leek and potato) was excellent but the main course (belly pork) was awful. I... More

We booked the hotel as a present for a friend's special birthday surprise. The January deal was £29 per person bed and breakfast which is a tremendous saving over the normal £70 pppn. The other good thing about the hotel is that they openly welcome dogs at no extra charge with 50% of the rooms allocated for the purpose. We... More

We were booked in with a large party for a celebration lunch, with two rooms booked for some of the family to stay overnight. First impressions are good: the bar/lounge area is old-fashioned, but in the right way, and the staff (though busy chatting on the 'phone when we arrived, and in no mood to finish their conversation!) were inexperienced... My wife and I have just returned from a three day mid week break at the Two bridges to celebrate our wedding anniversary. This is a hotel experience not to be missed. The hotel is located in a remote location on Dartmoor and could not be faulted. If you want a cosy hotel with real wood fires and excellent service,... More

Just returned from a weekend celebrating my husband's 75th birthday with family & friends. A great country hotel in a superb location. Staff were extremely friendly & helpful. Our bedroom was large with a four poster bed, excellent views ( worth having an upgrade ). Lovely lounge/bar area with log fires & cosy chairs, a great place to meet with... More

I found the Two Bridges by accident and now I will not stay anywhere else in the South West. The lobby and bar area is full of dark wood, open fires and old Chesterfield sofas. The restaurant is elegant and the food superb. If you opt for one of the historical rooms you get a bed the size of a... More

Specifically a starter 'scallops with pork cheek'. The said scallop component comprised two miniscule portions. The venison was cooked perfectly but lacked taste and the duck confit was tough as old boots. The Hearty Dartmoor Breakfast consisted of 1 sausage (overcooked), 1 rasher of bacon (laminated), too many fried potatoes, a fried egg (OK) and a weird leathery pouch which,... More

I only stayed one night as part of a walking weekend. The hotel staff were very friendly & I was escorted to my room by receptionist which was a nice touch. The food was lovely. Although I felt rushed by a hovering restaurant manager to go thru to the dining room. I also felt a tad rushed through the courses.... More

My partner and I stayed at the Two Bridges for one night towards the end of December. It's only 30 minutes from Plymouth or 35-40 minutes from Exeter by car, and well worth a look in. The location is excellent as you would expect being in the heart of Dartmoor, and the grounds are beautiful. We arrived at about 11.45am,... More
