Although very stylish and elegant the atmosphere is very relaxed and friendly - a perfect location for a special weekend away with loved ones. The rooms are beautifully decorated completely in keeping with the Art Deco period. The food is excellent and service attentive but not intrusive. Add to that the romantic location on an island with the unique tractor... More

This is my second visit to the 1930s paradise that is Burgh Island and, once again, it exceeded my expectations. From the moment you board the Sea Tractor, the stresses of everyday life are left behind on the mainland. The welcome is always wonderful, the atmosphere calm and the staff can never do enough to help, specifically Vlad and Lily,... More

The hotel is in the most wonderful location and the entire stay from start to finish was more than just a lovely weekend break it was an amazing experience. Staff were efficient and friendly and made our stay all the more enjoyable and relaxing. The food was superb - everything including pre dinner canapes, afternoon tea and each and every... More

I rarely write reviews, but this place is special. To be fare it wasn't a week long stay and my wife and I got married there so it does hold a special meaning for us. The hotel itself is what you might call shabby chic, if you go along expecting some kind of corporate, perfectly decorated affair then you'll be... More

Although virtually nobody today has personal experience of the Art Deco period of the nineteen twenties and thirties, there is still a generation around that were fascinated during the seventies by the transformation of Derry and Toms, Kensington High Street, into BIBA (and later mourned its corporate destruction by Marks and Spencer). But this generation who browsed amongst petrol blue... More

All the good reviews have said it all. But you really can't praise the hotel enough. I am so envious of those who got married there and had the place to themselves. We went for the murder mystery and it was everything I hoped for and more. The staff are amazing, low key but friendly and alway proffessional. If you... More

Firstly I must apologise to Anne and the team for being so tardy in writing this review. We got married there in June this year and I can't rate it more highly. Anne was a masterpiece in patience with me, attending to everything that I needed, despite my bridezilla tendencies. Gary took the time to work through all our signature... More

On our first visit to this little corner of 1930s England, I said that I wanted to wake up there on my 40th and so I did. The elegance, quality, style and grace of this special place is matched by the peacefulness we find there (in October) and the chance to dress up whilst being looked after by the quality... More

This was our second visit to The Burgh Island Hotel, although something like twenty years have elapsed between visits. Both times we were celebrating special occasions: The first time was to celebrate a friend's thirtieth birthday. The second visit was to share our own daughter's twenty-first.. The hotel is a riot of art deco. On this most recent visit we... More

We have just returned from 3 nights at Burgh Island to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. The very positive reviews on this site certainly influenced our decision. Firstly, disregard the 'terrible' reviews - this hotel offers a fine if relatively expensive experience, but it won't be to everyone's taste but unlike some reviews it's not all good news. The location... More
