I was looking forward to revisiting Jersey after a 50 year gap. The hotel seemed pleasant enough on arrival with an extremely efficient and friendly receptionist. We were given a twin bedded room with a side view of sea which, on first inspection seemed quite adequate. On closer inspection some of the decor, especially the bathroom was a little tired....

I'm afraid I have to agree with JEMMidland... The photographs of the rooms on the website - which give the impression of clean, contemporary accommodation - bear absolutely no resemblance the reality. I got the impression only very few of the rooms in this hotel had been refurbished, with the remaining rooms still needing urgent attention.
However, I have no...

Just got back from a long weekend in Jersey, staying at the Shakespear. Staff very polite and helpful, hotel room was basic and nice and clean with a good flat screen TV to watch at night before hitting the sack. Room was a little warm as it was over the kitchen, but fine really. Food - we were half-board and...

My wife & I stayed here on HB basis for 5 nights( wanted a long-weekend break from work). We hired a car from the airport but this is not really necessary since the bus passes frequently from the front of the hotel. OK.. not the best beach immediately in front of the hotel, but who comes to Jersey for the...

Brilliantly positioned, friendly, helpful informative staff. My childrena nd I are usually given a room which has had 3 beds squeezed in, the Shakespeare gave us adjoining rooms both with tea/coffee facilities and en-suite. They even let me check in very early as i had sleepy kids, they asked the maid to make up the rooms while we waitie. Restaurant...

It was almost 14years since our last visit to Shakespeare and ownership had changed. The almost 100% foreign staff and the new owners had improved the place - not changed it. The only downside was the bar prices - they kept changing with who was serving but when you paid the correct change nothing was said. A very clean hotel...

Room was very dated even though we had paid extra for a superior room, I would dread to see what the basic rooms are like. Furniture in the room was worn and the door on the bedside table was coming off, bedspread was all fluffed up on the reverse making it look grubby and there was a sheet and blanket...

Stayed here 15-18th July 2011, Bedroom decor could do with updating, but they are in the process of dealing with this, apart from that everything was of a high standard. Staff very polite and friendly, food was excellent and set at a good price.
We will return and recommend to others. Thanks to everyone.
