After a manic weekend at the Electric Picnic festival, I decided to treat myself in to a proper rest at Roundwood House. I couldn't have picked a better place for a relaxing break. The house is a gorgeous old, country manor. It's not luxuriously plush in the modern sense but the house is lovely, with great character - it's comfortable,... more

Have just been to Roundwood House for the weekend and seven of us stayed in the coach house for the weekend. There are two bedrooms but with all the beds and sofa bed we managed fine (would be ideal for a family). Wonderful, homely and creatively designed old converted stable - all mod-cons in a wonderful setting. Patrons very friendly... more

My wife, 13-year-old daughter and I just spent a wonderful night at Roundwood House. We had a lovely time and only wish we could have stayed longer. Most outstanding aspects: the warmth and generosity of the hosts (Paddy and Hannah), the incredible food, and the easy conversation over dinner and drinks with other guests. Of course, the grounds and house... more

A family group went to Roundwood House for the weekend - it was the fourth time that I have been there in 10 years and this was the best visit yet. Upto know Frank and Rosemarie Keenan have been the hosts, but they were on holidays and their daughter Hannah and son in law Paddy were in charge. Any fears... more

Very relaxing stay in a lovely house. Service was excellent. Would recommend highly. Had a meal and it was of a very high quality. Wanted a short break in a relaxed Irish country house - and this fitted the bill to perfection. more

Roundwood provided my family one of the finest, most exceptional, restful, peaceful and beautiful stays of our adult lives. If you are looking for 24-hour, luxury service, perhaps you should book the Ritz Carlton (the one in Grand Cayman is particularly nice). If you want an authentic, lovely escape with real Irish hospitality in a real, unspoilt part of Ireland,... more

Thought this would be really special, and arranged our trip to include this midlands stop. Nice that is was so old, but could have been kept up a bit better. Felt a little gouged when we found out the locals get 25% off with their coupons. Not a good value for our money, but not a bad place to stay... more

We would like to state as a matter of fact that under no circumstances do "locals get 25% off with their coupons". Our rates are both maximum and minimum rates for ALL customers; they don't change for special dates or special events. Roundwood was originally a Quaker property and we totally embrace the Quaker tradition of a 'fair price'. Frank...

We spent 2 weeks touring England and Ireland, and Roundwood was by far the most memorable part of our journey. We stayed for 3 nights, which felt about right for visiting the Slieve Bloom Mountains and the neighboring towns and castles. Roundwood is a restored Georgian home, and is charming. We spent a great deal of time walking around the... more

What a fabulous place to stay. My wife and I had two amazing days at Roundwood, walking in the Slieve Bloom Mountains and visiting Kilkenny. The accommodation, food and hosts were the best we had on our two week trip to Ireland. The House is from the Georgian era and is absolutely stunning, surrounded by beautiful gardens (and animals). We... more
