Ballynahinch is out of the beaten path but is well worth the drive! It is more modern in decor and accomodations than some other castle hotels in Ireland. It is absolutely breathtaking! The views are of the mountains, landscaped footpathes and the river that runs through the property is the icing on the cake. Our room was huge with 2... more

My husband and I are just returning from our honeymoon in Ireland. We are please sure say we were enchanted with this hotel. The bed was comfortable, the room was huge, and the bathroom was fantastic. As the price does seem high, we were very pleased to see that we got our money's worth. As far as the food goes,... more

Staying at the castle was supposed to be the highlight of our 2 week vacation and it was by far the most expensive place we stayed at. The hotel itself was beautiful, as well as the grounds which were a treat to walk around. The room was the best part of the experience with a large bed, huge bathroom and... more

What an amazing hotel! My husband and I had just driven from Dublin across to Connemarra, and made our stay at Ballynahinch. Set on about 400 acres of pristine woodland, with a river running by the hotel, and lakes to gaze upon when taking quiet walks, this hotel made me feel like a character in a period novel, where I... more

With two weeks to explore Ireland this was a must stop for my wife. Her family has been traveling to Ballynahinch annually for six plus years. When we checked in it was a little busy and was taken back by the VERY efficient receptionist without the expected warm welcome. With that said every person (staff) i encountered were warm, kind,... more

I have stayed at this hotel approx. 5/6 times along with my daughter, and sometimes by myself. When I first went to this hotel about 8 years ago I was looking for a hotel that was "down to earth" and not fancy as I was on a vacation to relax so I specifically asked if they were that kind of... more

We have just recently returned from a nine-day bicycle tour of Connemara, having visited a number of country hotels and resorts. This is one of the best. The restaurant was excellent. The preparation was seriously creative and well executed. The view from the dining room--be sure to get a window table--is worth the price of admission. The staff was very... more

Let me prefix this review by stating that I've stayed everywhere from a Premier Travel Inn on a Cardiff ringroad to the most luxurious resorts in the Maldives and the Caribbean. Therefore I know what to expect from a hotel for what price. My partner and I are not nit-pickers, either, and tend to accept a hotel's individuality and overlook... more

My wife and I stayed at the Ballynahinch Castle Hotel in June. This was one of three properties we stayed at on our vacation and it was hands down, the best. The rooms are spacious and the food was fine but the allure of the Ballynahinch Hotel is the property itself. Breakfast or dinner overlooking the river. Hiking trails on... more
