You could easily think this place is just a comfortable beautifully maintained old house with friendly helpful staff and great food but that would to miss the loving attention to detail and professionalism that underlies its charm at every turn! While maybe not the best place we’ve ever stayed in, it sure ranks pretty high. Get one of the large... More

I surprised my wife with a two night stay for her birthday. It was fantastic. The level of service throughout our stay was exceptional. The food was delicious. We will be back for sure. Cathrina and Rachel - the front of house women - you are great hosts and are made for the business - keep up the great work. More

My husband and I had a very enjoyable New Years Eve in Ballymaloe, food wonderful, wine lovely but it was Rory Allens singing and camaradarie in the drawing room that made it for us, the 60's disco after midnight was great fun for the hour.I have to say the waiting staff are super attentive BUT I do think that the... Ballymaloe is a well established brand in the Irish hospitality and food business. With this as a backdrop we visited with great anticipation of the 'experience'. However we were disappointed on many fronts. Our room (Roof Room) was a poky attic room without a shower. Be prepared to pay €70 pp for 5 course dinner, no choice on the number... More

After all the rave reviews I expected something special. Instead the food was mere mediocre the service however was great. I didn't like the old fashioned uniforms on the young waitresses and I didn't like the dark and cold setting of which I mentioned to staff. hey light a few candles ) Sunday Lunch was a mish mash of everything... So sorry you did not enjoy our Sunday Lunch - a Buffet Lunch , such as this may not appeal to everyone . We serve an a la carte lunch every day except Sunday . More

Oh, what a night! Ballymaloe House was the most special place we stayed in all of Ireland, and the memories of it live on brightly in my mind. This charming and excellent country house knows how to treat their guests! We stayed in the Pink Room, with a small patio that opened to the lawn and garden. Hydrangea flanked the... More

This was an incredible place to stay! Clean, beautifully appointed and fabulous food (of course). You definitely need to drive a ways to get "anywhere" but it makes for an incredible base...that is so good you almost don't want to leave the whole time you are there. We came home one night late after drving all day and not having... More

Though many people think of going to Balymaloe House simply for the cooking school, it is so much more. Though the delicious breakfasts (yes there are geranium infused baked apples) are enough to last you through dinner, the Sunday buffet lounges like a guest on a table in an old master's painting and dining in the Yeats room by candlelight... Fabulous food and the best atmosphere, sitting around a roaring fire in the drawing room after dinner enjoying a fun sing song. I had the most delicious dinner both nights, fresh fish and an array of cheeses. A very friendly and informative sommelier, helped us with our wine choices and even gave us a free sherry with our dessert. There... More
