We arrived a little after 11:00 AM and the place quickly filled up. We all had different sandwiches and we all agreed the ones we had were very good. Make sure you save room for dessert!!! When the dessert menu is about as long as the lunch menu, you know you're in for a real treat and we were not... more

A local favorite... I love this place, the lunch menu has a German base while the dinner is very simple (large or small filet served with a 1/4 head of lettuce). But the deserts are the best!! I always come here for a meal when I get a chance to come back to the Black Hills. I love the German... more

Okay, the wedge of iceberg lettuce drizzled with Ranch was a bit weird, but I found the experience to be a nice touch to a already memorable vacation. Obviously, by the crowd that had mobbed the place, this tells the whole story. The place is EXTREMELY historic, and quaint, the servers are dressed to the nines, and as people who... more

After a 45 minute wait to be seated (the hostess said the wait would be about 15 minutes), we were shown to our cramped table in a cramped room. No menus. The waitress comes by and asks if we are "familiar with our menu". She then explains that we have a choice of a small steak or a larger steak.... more

We went here for lunch and weren't sure what to expect since we don't normally eat German food but everyone found something to eat and it was great. The food is fresh and there are a lot of choices for lunch. We shared an apple dessert and it was great. Price is reasonable and the waitress was friendly but the... more

We had lunch there with everyone sharing. I had a Ruban which I never have see one so big. The German potato salad was fantastic and so was the sauerkraut. Best I have ever had. My mother had the bread pork chops....FANTASTIC. I was so stuffed on had to pass on the deserts, but others with me did. Mostly home... more

I have been in the hospitality industry for over twenty years, and I am a fair customer to have, I am very understanding and sympathetic to others in this business. That said on to the review..... First we tried Alpine Inn for lunch, food was great and we did wait a long, long time for drinks, and to even be... more

We were told that the Alpine Inn in Hill City was a good place to go for steaks. We decided to go for it and came away satisified. You get a choice of a small or large filet mignon wrapped in bacon. The salad comes with homeade ranch dressing that is awesome. After dinner they had a menu of all... more

Recommended this by the hotel we were staying at but still puzzled as to why. We had passed the inn on the way through Hill City and thought it looked a nice place to stop for some food. When we got there we were a little suprised when we were told there was no menu and the only choice we... more

After reading all of the wonderful reviews of the Alpine Inn, we put it on our "must-do" list for restaurants. We made a special effort to be in Hill City at 4:30 p.m. so we could have dinner at the Alpine Inn. We stood in line to get a table right at 5:00 p.m., and ordered immediately. Only 1 of... more
