Some other reviews seem a bit hysterical about the neighborhood around this hotel. The rooms are nicely updated and the folks working at the hotel are friendly and efficient. The neighborhood isn't special, but it's more down-in-the-mouth than ghetto. My car wasn't vandalized, but the property is a bit secluded, so I can see where that could be a problem.... more

Travelers beware... Surely there is a better choice for overnight stay in the area than the Courtyard Marriott in Columbia NW, SC!!! Nicely updated Courtyard hotel. Lobby, restaurant and all public areas are nicely redone and high quality. Rooms were also very nice, new carpeting, bathroom fixtures and great mattress with top notch bedding. Wireless internet was fast and free. The area surrounding the hotel is horrible.
