The hotel is ok - nothing spectacular - however, it was great to have a fire going in our room and the bed was very clean and comfortable. We had everything we needed. Middleton Place is absolutely beautiful. I recommend taking a weekend to walk around the grounds. The restaurant isn't all that great but there are some good places... More

As others have said, the Inn is certainly different from what you would expect at a plantation. That said, it was unique and a perfect setting to relax and enjoy the offerings of Middleton Place. The room was large and we loved the fireplace and windows. Access to Middleton Place made for a delightful day to explore the plantation at... More

Thank you for the review guest! The tub/shower combination is indeed unique; offering guests a 150-garden style tub can have its challenges. We do have handicap assessable rooms where shower bars and handles are provided and can bring in items such as a shower chair and handheld nozzle to assist. The entrance to the tub is just the right height... More

We stayed January 2, 3, 4 2011 - only getting around to reviewing it now. Have to agree with many of the comments listed previously - beautiful location next to Middleton Place (that is worth the price, just to have immediate access), quiet, peaceful, enjoyable manager's reception and breakfast, loved the rooms - the windows, the fireplace, beautiful views -... We chose the Inn at Middleton Place on a recent visit to Charleston - what a great decision! The grounds are beautiful. The new age style retreat has been built on part of the grounds of the rice plantation and is a 5 minute stroll to the plantation house, historical gardens and fabulous restaurant. Our rooms were southwest in feel... More

This is a well hidden but great place to stay and relax. You have access to the Middleton Plantation, with it's beautiful gardens, and interpretive life. It's a great place to just walk and enjoy nature. The room was very rustic, with a huge garden tub, lots of wood for the fireplace and plenty of window space to overlook the... More

We loved the inn. After staying at many historic properties downtown, we found this hotel very refreshing. We loved the very euro-inspired room, the huge bathroom with a tub almost the size of a small pool. It was lovely to walk the lighted river path to the restaurant at Middleton Place in the evening, and to walk the gardens in... More

I'd highly recommend this hotel for its magnificent setting, and would urge visitors not to shy away from the tours included in the price and offering glimpses into what life was like on a plantation, however moving and haunting this experience proves. More

We are very happy we stayed, since it allowed us to experience sunset and the very early morning on the grounds of Middleton Place plantation. With the beautiful gardens, birds, alligators and turtles, this was a truly magical experience. We also had lunch at the restaurant at the plantation and enjoyed it. The Inn itself was OK but not quite... More

I have stayed at Middleton Place several times and have stayed in almost all the buildings. I can't say one bad thing about the Inn. It's remotely located so it seems at times like you're the only ones there, they have hammocks that you can lay in and read a book or enjoy the view of the river, you can... More

I won't repeat the recent accurate reviews of the Inn just would like to add that we thought our stay was worth the unpleasantness of the room, the poorly tended grounds (Inn not Middleton) and the total absence of staff to help with luggage or anything else because we loved being able to walk through the grounds of Middleton Place... I sincerely appreciate your title guest, as you are 100% correct on The Inn at Middleton Place not being a luxurious property and you make many wonderful points. Thank you. Every room rate at The Inn includes your admission to Middleton Place, the oldest landscaped gardens left in America. The Inn, however, is meant not to be landscaped yet built... More
