I have enjoyed many stays at the Lionel Champlin Guest House over the past 10+ years. Lisa and Rusty are charming hosts and offer a warm hospitality with ease. I have stayed in the Blue Room, perfect for when I'm traveling solo, and in the Twin Room, which is very comfortable for when I travel with my teen daughter. The... More

We had a relaxing visit to Jamestown at the Lionel Champlin Guest House. Rusty and Lisa were fine hosts: friendly, helpful, interested and interestING to boot. Very much enjoyed the fun, slightly funky decor in our room (Rose). We were the only guests on a rainy off-season few days, and had the quiet house pretty much to ourselves. The lighter... More

We stayed at the guest house in mid August. We opted for the apartment because we wanted a small sitting room and kitchen. That was a mistake. The apartment is very hot and does not have air conditioning so it was very uncomfortable. I have to agree with the perception that the innkeepers are a little cool and removed. I'm... More

The most unfriendly inn-keepers. I've stayed at many bed and breakfasts (including several in Newport) and these innkeepers were the most rude, frosty, unaccommodating folks I've met. I don't think I saw a smile from them once. Instead of making one feel welcome, one gets the sense that you're intruding. There is no warmth to the house. They are very... More

We enjoy welcoming people from all over the world to our guest house, and work hard to ensure that they likewise enjoy their stay. On a rare occasion, a guest’s words and conduct will set a negative tone that we are simply unable to work around, despite our best efforts. When taking a reservation we do our best to describe... We came to Jamestown for my son's wedding. Most of our family came with us and stayed at the Inn, too. I think we occupied every charming room and the apartment! We all loved it so much and were so comfortable that we referred to it as "going home" each evening when the days events ended. Lisa and Rusty did... More

My family stayed at the Inn August 2010. It was our second trip to the Lionel Champlin, and this time we brought our 4 year old. Our room was " Aunties Room " and it was a perfect fit. We also traveled with friends who had the appartment. I know they were very pleased as well. Why anyone would go... More

Five longtime friends traveling to Jamestown to visit another longtime friend - who recommended this lovely guest house for us - and it was just right for our purposes. We had the upstairs apartment - which contained two bedrooms with air conditioners, a living room, dining area and kitchen. In the living room was a daybed and trundle, so we... More

I stayed here twice, once alone during a large snowstorm in February and more recently for a few very warm days in May. Both times I was extremely well looked after and welcomed. The innkeeper is a lovely woman with a lot of knowledge of the area and willing to help with all manner of queries. The rooms are spacious,... More

I stayed two nights in the Rose Room of this inn, in mid-October with my boyfriend. The inn is located on a quiet street within walking distance of many shops and great restaurants. The room was spotlessly clean, furnished with nice, antique-like furniture and filled with a variety of books and interesting artsy "decorations," including old fashionable ladies' shoes and... More

We stayed here for one night in July. Things started out badly with the woman running the place contacting me to make the reservation. Don't be surprised when you see their email address that very clearly has b&b in the address, but isn't a B&B. When I tried to give her my email address to send the email confirmation (which... More
