Visited with young family, inc mother, 2 sisters and their families. We occupied 3 out of the 5 (i think ?) cottages. This place is great for a weekend, quiet, peaceful and close to Loue if you've got a car. The cottages are quaint if not luxurious. We ate in the hotel just once. Most of us, except 1 were... more

One night you get the staff's attention, two or more..... well you become the friend that outstays their welcome. Its not all bad, very relaxed about pets, easy & relaxed pony trekking too (nice & helpful staff too) with perfect grounds to explore. However there are several warning signs that tell you about your stay ahead.... bright green fountain and... more

My husband and I just stayed here for 2 nights as we had booked an activity day at Adrenaline quarry nearby. I can honestly say I do not have any idea why other people did not like this place. We loved it. We stayed in Room 8 which had extremely low ceilings in places but this added to the charm.... more

We arrived at the hotel and were greeted with silence by the unfriendly 'receptionist', and promptly ordered to move towards the bar to sign ourselves in. Stayed in room 17 - lasted 5 minutes- complained as exceedingly small, mattress worn out and springs appearing through it - a health hazard- pillows like pancakes and shower with little water. Told we... more

Staff very offhand, bar/dining area very dark and full of flies. Room not particularly clean - kettle, cups and toilet could have done with a good dose of elbow grease. Meeting a Great Dane in the Dining area was a bit offputting. Wall between room and next room paper thin - had to put up with rantings from next door... more

We booked a cottage for a quiet weekend with my wife and 2 small children. From the very start of the stay, it can only be described as horrendous. We left after the first night - as I could not subject my wife or children to the shambles that is Great Trethew Manor. The cottages are very small, shabby and... more

I feel it is a little unfair that people are allowed to write reviews which arn't actually true. This family from Devon have stayed with us on several occasions if their experience had been that bad surely they would not have returned after the first time. The weekend in question these guests had dined with us on the Friday evening...

I booked this hotel because of how near it was to Eden.We had a quad family room. The room was very small and had a wall dividing a double bed and a bunk bed. When i walked in i noticed cobwebs in the corner of the rooms and a ring pull on the floor. The view from the window was nice so i... more

Stayed for 3 nights at this beautiful country manor house. The room was clean and well decorated with old furniture to match the beautiful old manors' character, in fact it was so quiet and comfortable we have never slept so well. The breakfast and food was very good with a varied menu available all day. The staff were very friendly... more

We booked to stay for 3 nights at this hotel and at the time it looked quite nice on the website and it also had riding available which was perfect for my daughter. On arrival the entrance looked good with stone lions etc but all that changed when we drove up to the hotel itself - the grounds are a... more

I would love to have recommended this hotel but unfortunately I can’t. This is not a four star hotel but a mediocre pub with mediocre rooms and service. Having said this it does have a certain charm and a good location so with some attention it could be a great place to stay. The main problem is the unwarranted high... more
