I personally know the people who own and run his hotel ! BUT ! having said that, that photo that has been mentioned is VERY VERY old, the hotel was actually alot better back then (that's when i stayed there !) the HOT WOK is a fantastic chinese restaurant but Smokeys is a bit of a dive, only the down... more
The hotel was tired and basic but at the bargain price £32 pppn I was not expecting to much in mid August. Although the room was generally clean it is really in need of a refurbishment, my only real gripe was the dreadfull noise from the archaic plumbing there really is an unbelievable noise from it. We stayed 3 nights... more
Never have i had such a poor nights sleep! The smell of Chineese cooking was always around, but to get over this they put air freshners all over the place which was too strong. Noise from the "POLE Dancing" club / Bar was far too loud, not so much from people - did not see many, but the Music! Room... more
Firstly, take no notice of the extremely misleading photograph on their website - the one with the Rolls/Bentley on it. Make no mistake about it, his hotel is the worst I have ever stayed in. Booked in and 10 minutes later I was feeling like I was doing a life sentence. The place is cold and damp, stinks of ciggy... more
Room was OK but the shower was small and had poor water flow. Constant smell of chinese food - not good in the morning. Swearing and loud music from the pole dancing bar downstairs. Late start for breakfast - 08.00 Staff were pleasant though. Won't be back. more
Loud music from strip club downstairs, staff tell you wrong times for breakfast. Tele pointless as loud music is louder than tele. Whilst eating breakfast you can hear Chinese chef "flemming up" in the kitchen. Bedding had unknown white stains on it and stunk of smoke. Towels smelt of parrafin, kettle filter was black. A doss hole ! Avoid ! more
This is a small hotel with huge prices for very poor service. Our room smelt of smoke, the bathroom had a damp and grungy carpet and the pub under our room had a lot of loud music. The staff were unhelpful-only the staff in the adjacent Chinese restaurant were pleasant. Avoid this place. more
