Myself, husband and Scooby The Dog stayed for 3 nights. Everything was perfect from the welcome given to our dog (and the way we did not have to keep her on a lead, even in the bar). Staff could not have been friendlier and as for the food - I have no idea what people are complaining about, very nice... more

From arrival to check out this was a fantastic hotel. We arrived 2 hours early for check in but were given our room keys early by the manageress of the hotel. She was very friendly and welcoming from the moment we arrived showed us to our room. We stayed in room 6 which is one of the four poster rooms... more

We visited the Jamacia Inn years back when it was run properly. The present owners now run the place totally geared up for cheap tour parties who on arrival queue up canteen fashion for bland food and appalling service. To add insult to injury you are then guided thru a overpriced Gift shop full of tatty imported rubbish on your way... more

We stopped off at Jamaica Inn on our trip back from Exeter. When we walked in, we thought we had entered the Twilight Zone. The decor was dark and looked unclean. We were not impressed at all with the selection of food on offer from the canteen style servery - nor the high prices! But we were hungry so decided... more

Called in on way further South for lunch - huge mistake, first impression like school canteen, I have coeliac disease and asked staff what they had that was gluten free, she was as helpful as a chocolate tea-pot, couldn't even be bothered to ask the chef. My one and only option was a jacket potato with grated cheese, (boring) the... more

Jamaica Inn? Tired. Seen better days. Living off its reputation and the famous author. Factory type canteen. Really poor food. Tasteless, even by canteen standards. Zero imagination. Staff could not care less. The staff tick the boxes and go through the motions but really would prefer to be somewhere else. Grossly over-priced. Arrived in the middle of the lunch period... more

Stayed at Jamaica Inn on Bodmin Moor for on night on July 31. It was fantastic! I'd just finished reading the novel and it set the scene well -- even the bleak weather seemed somehow fitting. Loved the museum, had a great family room, including a bunk bedded annex room, and a great night in the bar/restaurant. Never been anywhere... more

My husband and I stayed at the Jamaica Inn for an evening in June 2009. We stayed in the Squire Bassett bedroom which was a lovely four poster bedroom. We didn't experience anything scary that evening, but I did insist on leaving the bedside lamps on. The room was a little stuffy at first but soon became airy once the... more

Well I am quite surprised by previous reviews as I enjoyed my stay here. I stayed one night in room 6 on the way further south. Yes the bar and dining area are quite dark but this suits the whole mood of the place, there are many old objects upon the walls which provide good talking points during dinner. I... more
