Having stayed at what was known as the Popes Grotto hotel in the past, we were really impressed by the improvements which have been made recently. A fantastic new sun terrace has been added to the front of the hotel which is where you have breakfast and looks out over the River Thames. The breakfast is very good and cooked... more

We booked this hotel as a stop-over for visiting Twickenham for the rugby. It is so handy for the stadium and the walk was no more than 10-15 minutes. Its near enough to be on the stadiums doorstep but far enough that the hotel bar is not crowded following a match. We were pleased with the size of the room,... more

If you like to hear drunk neighbour rumbling all night, yes it’s a good hotel . I don’t how the rest of the rooms but my shared "fire" door with neighbours room, around 2am guest in neighbours room tried to break into my room, after my heart almost stopped as i was awaken pretty roughly, i realized that he was... more

Over the past few years my partner and I have stayed in the what used to be the Popes Grotto Hotel. We used the hotel for convience as our family and friends live close by. On our last stay i couldn't get over the place, it has a conservatery built onto the front which looked beautiful from the outside and... more

I booked this hotel last October while planning a surprise trip to the Guinness Rugby Final for my husband. When I booked the hotel was called Pope's Grotto and their website looked very promising. I was not disappointed. In the mean-time the hotel had undergone a transformation - a new 'conservatory' had been added to the front of the bar... more

We stay here each year when going to the rugby, it's about 20 min walk to the Stoop/Twickenham stadium and about a 10-15 min walk from the station. Bus from Richmond station goes right past it. Handy for Twickenham centre. Fairly quiet area. nothing fancy but suits us. One site parking (no extra cost). Breakfast is nice and was included... more

My boyfriend and I stayed here after seeing REM at Twickenham Stadium, the room (209) was lovely, big and airy with a lovely en suite with gorgeous complimentary toiletries. The staff were very polite, friendly and helpful. There was a good selection for breakfast and overall we were really happy as the hotel is situated in a quiet area of... more

Overall Popes Grotto is a nice small hotel attached to a pub. My first concern was that it would be noisy but very quiet. Rooms double glazed plus aircon but pub itslef is a quiet place generally. Negative points where: no frdge or bar in the room which most hotels of a reasonable level seem to have as standard nowadays.... more

We stayed here for one night for a wedding. Overall a nice hotel but could do with redecorating in some areas. In a good location with ample car parking facilities. Located in a quiet residential area only a ten minute walk from the high street shops and York House. Rooms are a decent size with a good size bathroom and... more

Stayed on a Saturday night. Nice enough room but could hear the man in the next room talking clearly enough to ascertain he was Australian! Despite reviews last year saying the hotel desperately needed redecoration this obviously has not been picked up on. Entrance area round lift and area round downstairs loos really grotty. Needs paint and new wallpaper urgently.... more
