After a 38 year break, we returned to The Old Bell, Malmesbury (reputedly the oldest continuously run hotel in England), for an enjoyable short stay. The Old Bell is a listed building, which restricts what can be done to it. We appreciate that such an old place, with all its character, has to be protected. For example, it cannot be... more

We arranged to spend one night at the Old Bell Hotel in Malmesbury, Wiltshire and wish we had spent many more. We were en route from Devon to the Cotswolds and stayed in five different Hotels on that journey. We called at Malmesbury for the first time as my wife has ancient family connections with the town and abbey. The... more

We stayed in malmesbury on a one night stop over as we are relocating to nearby Foxham on staying over we were given a room in the coach house, this was a standard room but was charged at 110.00 per night. On seeing the room i felt this was over priced but we decided to go with it. That night... more

I am travel agent thatw as visiting the Cotswolds. I booked a tour with Let's tour England company. The owner Rob Little suggested we book a night At the Old Bell. What a perfect place to stay! After a wonderful day of touring this was the most ideal place to rest our weary heads. The location was perfect, the service... more

We stayed in the Coach House, which is a Standard room and I have to say that for a Standard room It was very comfortable compared with some 3* hotels we have visited over the years. It is true to say that they are not particularly big, but we thought that the furnishings and decor were lovely and the bathroom... more

We went on the "Serene Sundays" offer on a very wet and wintry day. The hotel was very welcoming, with friendly staff, log fires, comfortable lounges and a nice refurbished bedroom. The evening meal was superb and the service good. Might be a difficult hotel for anyone with mobility problems however, lots of stairs and no lift. The hotel is... more

Review of Old Bell Hotel, Malmesbury October, 2008 I stayed at the Old Bell Inn for two nights, and overall had an enjoyable stay. The hotel is a charming, historic hotel and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The meals were elegantly prepared and very tasty. Dinner on the first night was somewhat spoiled by the presence of a... more

The hotels website seems to suggest a snug boutique style country hotel. They only had standard rooms available so i booked one for the weekend. Pretty expensive but it must be at least pretty good mustnt it? As the other review i just read said, shocking is right! The small room had a damp musty smell, caused by a bad... more

I stayed at The Old Bell for 2 nights and was very disappointed with the room. We opted for the standard room at £135 a night, and I was shocked by the room we were given. Tiny stuffy box room - barely enough room for the suitcases. And to match a tiny bathroom - not particularly clean and a little... more

We booked for a one night stay whilst passing through wiltshire. the hotel is right next to Malmesbury Abbey, and the two make a picture perfect scene. The hotel is lovely. we didn`t make use of the cosy lounges as the sun was out on the patio and garden at the back of the hotel - very peaceful!! The food... more
