I have stayed at Beechfield on a number of occasions for work and also been to meetings there. It is a picturesque hotel in beautiful grounds. I have always found the staff helpful and always willing to go that extra mile. The bedrooms are all unique and I have stayed in the manor house where the rooms are traditional and... More

Stayed here for a wedding between Christmas and NYE. The wedding was really good, and the food was excellent. However, the room really let the hotel down. It was difficult to find, as the rooms weren't numbered, but when we did find it, the room was baking hot. Even with the windows open, and all heating off, it was uncomfortably... More

A traditional country house hotel beautifully decorated for Christmas. Even in winter the grounds looked super and I would love to see the walled garden/swimming pool in the spring. Top marks to the Claire, the receptionist (and another charming blonde girl whose name I didn't get - sorry ) and to Linda the simply excellent beauty therapist. Not very high... More

My husband and I had a two day stay at the hotel. Because we had such a wonderful stay I am writing my first ever Tripadvisor review. From the moment we arrived every member of staff we came into contact with was friendly and helpful. My case was carried to the room, Pear. It was spacious, clean, freshly painted with... More

Stayed here for 1 night in Chestnut. Lovely room with small balcony. Had afternoon tea and breakfast and food was first class. Understand from fellow guest that walls are a bit thin in the coach-house conversion, but feature rooms are only a few pounds more in the main house. More

We stayed here for two nights recently. The staff couldn't have been less interested. We stayed in Elm which has been refurbished fairly recently. The marble bathroom was spoiled by hairs in the bath and the annoying bright lights on a movement sensor and timer which kept going out while you were in the bath, the shower head shot off... More

The hotel is set in beautiful grounds and looks lovely from the outside. The staff were great and the service exceptional. The hotel inside however, is tired and run down in places and we were incredibly disappointed with our room. We stayed in Larch, which was very shabby. Stained carpets, curtains and walls. Large stains on the ceiling and a... More

Thank you for your feedback and for the constructive points raised. We are addressing these and in fact the decorators are working at the moment in the rooms adjoining yours. Once the work is completed in early 2012 we will post new images to our website. I hope we may then be able to tempt you back next year. More

Just returned from a weekend here with the hubby and enjoyed it as much as our last stay. I love the building, it is very striking and the decor of the common parts is very good. I was surprised by some comments about it being shabby - I do not feel that is a fair appraisal of the common areas,... More

Many thanks for your comments. I'm so sorry that the hotel felt cold - not normally a problem as we like to keep it very warm. Due to the very mild weather the heating was mistakenly turned off rather than down! Thanks again for the feedback and hope to see you again in 2012 when the Sycamore room is also... More

My wife and I spent a weekend break at this hotel. The staff were very friendly, our room (Cedar) was very comfortable, and the food was excellent. The price of drinks in the bar was high, but there was good service and a warm atmosphere. The hotel roof has been extensively repaired, but evidence of previous water incursion is still... More

Many thanks for your constructive comments. We will look into whether we can relocate any outdoor smokers away from the front of the house in future although as you rightly say the change in legislation has had a few unintended consequences. The Cedar room will be completely refurbished January /February 2012. We'd love to welcome you back to see what... More
