I rang the hotel, unluckily I did not get the man’s name, I explained that we were driving 4 hrs and needed to get into the room to get changed... More

Big comfy room, clean bed (less clean towels...), ok brekky, good value for a one night stopover. Very noisy til middle of night due to entuisaistic revellers in high street. not pub's fault! More

Would definitely recommend this 17th century hotel (it was the headquarters for General Fairfax during the British Civil War in the 1600s) for Americans interested in experiencing an old village inn. Rooms were large. Beds comfortable with freshly washed and ironed sheets and duvets. Remodeled en suite bathrooms. No lift and the stairs are steep and tilt every-which-way. The floors... More

Although the hotel is a bit dated room wise, you receive a warm welcome, and the service is good. It also has a lot of history to the place. More

We stayed at the George on a Saturday night and the noise from the karaoke/club bar went on until 2 in the morning and was then followed by people talking loudly outside until 2.30. We had to be up early to take part in a marathon walk from Stonehenge to Avebury the next morning so needed our sleep. My daughter... More
