Service and food was absolutely shocking! waited over an hour for a cold meat starter, when it arrived it was incomplete! when questioned the reply was "chefs got alot on"...there was one other table of 2 in the whole restaurant. Stayed one night as going to a gig at Trades Club - within 2 mins walk. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Our double room on the first floor was fine and the bathroom was clean with a great shower, however, on return to our room late in the evening there was a really bad smell emanating from the bathroom... What a fabulous place to stay! Room (Indulgence room) was gorgeous, huge comfortable bed, bathroom spotlessly clean and had everything we needed. We took an opportunity to look at other rooms whilst we were there and they were all excellent, even the single ones (don't get that often!). We stayed for a 1 night, mid-week break. We booked the 'Indulgence' room, which is worth the extra cost. Our room was large & really nice, the round bed is fab, and very comfortable. The manager and staff were helpful and attentive; nothing was too much trouble. There was a good breakfast choice and the quality of the cooked food... More

Had the mackerel pâté to start, and it was beautiful! Creamy and citrusy! Then I had the Vietnamese potato cakes with peanut and coconut salad - this again, was lovely and a very different dish! Partner had a steak which was wonderfully cooked with all the usual trimmings. Excellent food and value - will definitely be back!

Myself, my partner, sister and friend decided to call in for a drink and bowl of chips. When we arrived there were three tables of people and a couple at the bar. I stayed this weekend and had a great time.Friendly helpful staff , very accommodating.I had the lamb shank meal off the specials board and it was delicious and great value.the sticky toffee pudding for dessert was excellent too.I stayed in Lush a very comfortable room indeed.the Continental breakfast was great value too.I would definitely stay here again.Right in the heart... I did not stop in the hotel but I ordered vegetable chilli which was awful. No vegetables except a few tomato slivers. It cost £7 and was only half the bowl full, a small bowl too. No kidney beans and no chilli. What a waste of money.
