Whitewashed villas on hillttops overlooking the sea. Three infinity pools. But way too few lounges around them. No place to sit! Fabulous views of the boats in the bay and spectacular sunsets. Our room was huge. But with all that room where was a table and chair? Great bathroom with double sinks, but no Kleenex! Two double beds but there... more

I'm fairly well travelled... thus can appreciate the many nuances of "Quality" accomodations and service vs. what may be advertised by any high-caliber looking destination resort. If my experience is the norm, then I'd heartily recommend Piedras y Olas to anyone seeking a warm weather slice of paradise. This uniquely charming, full service resort spa, which strategically positioned on the... more

My wife and I stayed at Casa Fantasia, at Piedra Y Olas. We had expected a hotel room, but instead we found ourselves in an well appointed two story casita with 2 balconies, one on each floor. The upper floor was a good sized living room, with a fully appointed kitchen and a bathroom. Downstairs was a very large bedroom,... more

We stayed at Casa Fantasia in July and had a wonderful stay. We had a fantastic view and loved all the accomidations in this beautiful home. Our place was cleaned every day and we were treated well by everyone. The staff was very friendly and helpful in every way. It was an over the top stay and we would recommend... more

We took some of the reviews posted with a grain of salt since we are both from the tropics and know that there are occasional bugs. But, we have never seen anything like this. The first night I was so terrified I slept with the lights on ... they were all over the place. The stairs are often exhausting and... more

We were sorry to read that you were disappointed with your stay here at Piedras y Olas, A Pelican Eyes Resort. Your feedback is very important to us, as we are constantly striving to improve our hotel. Unfortunately, bugs are a challenge for us and most hotels in our area due to the tropical climate. Since your stay with us,...

Pelican Eyes is tucked on the hillside above San Juan del Sur. The staff is infinitely helpful, the rooms are unique, comfortable and well appointed. The restaurants served delicious local, international, and easy to recognize (for north Americans) foods. Serveice was prompt and attentive. We stayed there for only four nights but it made the end of our first trip... more

And not just the crisp air conditioning in the rooms (more like little houses) though I admit in Nica the AC can be an amazing thing. Safe, professionally run and maintained hillside resort overlooking the bay at San Juan del Sur, Piedras y Olas (stones and waves) is the better name over "Pelican Eyes" which is just creepy. What Pelican?... more

Stayed 10 days and my biggest fear was the weather. It held up nicely. Sun was out everyday. First let me say this is a "unique" resort. It will not be for everyone. I still can't figure out if its for me. But I miss it so I guess that tells me all I need to know. Secuirity is top... more

First let me say that going to San Juan del Sur is a fantastic journey and it offers a place that time has forgot. If you want the small quaint hotel near the beach or the eco lodge this place has it all. I have traveled all over the world and this place is very cool and on the top... more

We had a great stay at this surprisingly luxurious hotel in a small Nicaraguan seaside town. The hotel is owned and run by an American expatriate with extensive knowledge of the hospitality industry and with a commitment to offering first class service and amenities on a hillside overlooking Nicaragua's most spectacular beaches. On arrival the staff welcomed us and immediately... more
