My partner and I stayed here for 3 days in January. Everything about the facility (the rooms, the pools, the view) is beautiful and lends itself to relaxation. We were very pleased to have chosen Pelican Eyes for our stay because, quite frankly, there really isn't that much to see and do in San Juan del Sur. On the plus... More

We stayed at Pelican Eyes for 5 nights during the last week of January, first of February, 2012. We were mortified that we had to go through the main dining room, the bar and the pool area to get to our "cabina", but after the first day as the hotel was not busy, it began to feel like our own... We stayed a couple nights attending the wedding of a close friend's daughter. It's a destination hotel oriented to the market niche of weddings and receptions for foreigners and upper income Nicaragua families. The hotel is located on a hill overlooking the bay of San Juan del Sur. The rooms and apartments are scattered along the hill and there are... More

I stayed at Pelican Eyes from Jan. 11-17, 2012. The hotel has great expanded since my last visit, and we stayed in the Casa Cielo, which is probably the highest house on the property. It was gorgeous, with a huge downstairs area with full kitchen, gas grill outside and upstairs sleeping quarters with a balcony and beautiful view of the... More

The good: the rooms are very nice - pools are good and rooms and pool all have great views The bad: mediocre, overpriced food, poor customer service (especially from the evening staff) and a steep uphill climb up a unpaved, rocky dirt road if you are unlucky enough to be placed in "phase two" of the development. Avoid the latter... More

Spent a lot of time out and about exploring this spectacular area but coming back to Pelican Eyes was such a treat...especially meeting up in the bar to debrief overlooking the bay...breathtaking. Central to everything, beautiful rooms, gardens and great service. More

My husband and I just returned from a 3 night stay at Pelican Eyes, Jan 2012. We stayed in one of the 'casas' with two friends. Here is what we loved about the place: 1) Beautiful architecture in the "casas" where we stayed. Apparently all the work was hand done. Trees (Some of which may have been felled on the... More

Had a great stay at Pelican Eyes resort in San Juan del Sur in Dec. 2011. It's a good location within walking distance of restaurants and stores. The hotel also arranged for surfing trips to some of the pristine beaches south of town. These trips can be set up for much less money at one of the local surf shops... More

My husband and I recently spent three nights at Pelican Eyes over our honeymoon. We loved our room, which was beautiful and had an amazing view of the bay. However, we were not impressed by the food, which was at best mediocre. In addition, we wanted to book spa treatments and both days I tried calling but was unable to... More

After several days in other parts of Nicaragua staying, including an extending stay on the rustic and rugged island of Ometepe, my cousin and I decided to splurge by spending three nights at what we had heard was "the nicest hotel in Nicaragua." The view is certainly spectacular: perched on a hill looking over the bay, we could see all... More
