I stayed here for 2 nights during low season -- it was winter and I arrived right after the huge Tibetan Buddhist festival (1st month of Lunar New Year, day 13th-17th, is a massive celebration for the locals & pilgrims). Because it was low season, the room rate was very reasonable. I had a room with 2 single beds for... More

this has to be the worst hostel in all of china. The staff are apallingly rude and unhelpful, the rooms are unhygenic, the bathrooms are not even suitable for animals, no hot water, and worst of all the front doors are locked all morning until the staff bother to wake up, which was about 9.30am on one morning. Give it... More

This hotel is right outside the prayer wheels which surrounds Labrang Monastery. A great location. Breakfast is also good at 20yuan. If you are doing a long trip, laundry is also available at a very reasonable rate. The hotel, however, does need to fix it's bathtub which floods the bathroom after every shower. A cafe Gesar, which serves western and... More

It's not wondeful, and breakfast is far from pleasant, but the rooms are comfortable and the staff are friendly. There are plenty of bun shops about for a cheaper and tastier breakfast. The hotpot place directly opposite is also very good.

We got to Labrang/Xiahe the day before the Panchen Lama was supposed to come and the entire town was closing to foreigners the next day. The hotel staff helped us find an excellent driver to take us to Langmusi the next morning. We had hot water all day, and a bathtub so the bathroom didn't get drenched. The restaurant had... More

The hotel is well located, 15mins from the bus station and only 5mins from lebrang. The front desk are very helpful. Rooms (we stayed in a 3rd floor double) are simple and clean, but the bathrooms need some serious renovating. The everest cafe adjacent serves up a good selection of food and for 20rmb can prepare a great little lunch... More

The rooms are nice and decorated in Tibetan style. The breakfast (20 yuan extra) is also very good and most of all, the staff is very friendly and some even speak very good English.

Great location as it is less than a five minute walk to the beginning of the kora and about a 15 minute walk from the Xiahe bus depot. We were able to negotiate a discount for a five-day stay so if you're not travelling in peak season, write to Losang and negotiate a price. For the first three days of... More

Wasn't sure about this place to begin with - we arrived via a back alleyway - not the most attractive first impression, but it turned out to be a real gem of a place. As always in China the beds were rock-hard, and our toilet or hand-basin leaked water onto the ensuite floor, but the room with its hand-painted ceiling... More

This review is not the usual one for Trip Advisor. Come here to this 2-star hotel to have a fabulous experience and get a glimpse of life in "Tibetan China". Located 100 meters from Labrang Monastery, Overseas Tibetan Hotel is on the main street, dust and all, that leads to the 2,000 monk monastery. The beds are the usual Chinese... More
