stayed here for three nights Pros: easy to find (thank the neon sign), 5 min drive to downtown portland, easy access to freeway, quiet, lots of parking, room was cleaned everyday and for people on a budget it is well priced at 55/night Cons: green carpet felt dirty to step on w/ bare feet, bring som flip flops or something,... Marilyn at desk very helpful, booked online got winter discount $51 incl. fees & taxes motel in upgrading part of Portland (Interstate Ave. with light rail.) Very clean room, very comfortable king bed non-smoking, great shower, Room 37 looked to be recently refurbished. Wife & I stayed here, close to Amtrak 8AM departure. Very satisfactory in all ways; would expect... More

Great neon sign over a lackluster overpriced room that wasn't very clean, with an owner who insists you are getting a great deal. My advice: see the sign but stay elsewhere. How many more characters of filler does Trip Advisor want? Do they want me to write about the strange hairs in the shower? The weirdly unmatched light bulbs? Am... More

The sign alone is worth the price of admission. Funky throwback to pre-corporate, cookie cutter motels. Lady at desk very pleasant and friendly. Room clean, bed comfy. Microwave, small fridge, free wi-fi, good price. Sign being painted while there. Light rail outside no problem (if had more time would have taken a ride). Only "complaint" is little tight between bed... More

Average roadside motel. Clean(ish) but could be better. Good for the price. A bit noisy from the tram outside, but nothing that would prevent you from sleeping. Good location and close to public transit (the tram is just outside).

I had booked this based on the low rate through Priceline and this trip to Portland had not been in my budget planning. After reading the reviews I was apprehensive but decided to check it out anyway. I was pleasantly surprised when arriving. The woman at the desk was pleasant and let me check in early. My room was clean... More

We needed an inexpensive motel for a quick trip to Portland for a graduation. The motel our friends were staying at was booked but the Palms was just a few blocks south on Interstate Ave and they offered a AAA discount (no, they're not AAA-certified). The Palms looked a little rough on the outside; the sign is rusting and the... More

This place is conveniently-located and reasonably priced, but do not expect much in the way of service and attitude. The owners/family/whatever are moody and hard to deal with, keep the front door locked constantly and have a take it/leave it attitude. A light rail goes right by the motel and apparently has for years, but they not only had no... More

Granted, my expectations were extremely low when my boyfriend and I drove by this place at 4am one morning, in dire need of a break from the road. A gruff woman working the night window agreed to rent us a room until 11am for $40, a pretty fair rate. The room relatively clean, parking was free and so was wifi.... More
