We've stayed here before, but now they have added balconies to the rooms. We were on the 3rd floor, overlooking the ocean and big, wide beach. We loved it. The rooms are nothing special, but clean and the location can't be beat. Just across the street is the beach access and there are great tidepools straight down from the hotel.... more

We had just one night at the Whaler...everything was okay. Okay size room, old tv, okay view of the beach (paid a little more for the 3rd floor), okay bed and towels. It was fine for a night, but they could put a little more effort into the rooms' details that might impress. 3 stars. more

My boyfriend and I celebrated our 5 year anniversary at this place and it was gorgeous! We reserved a Junior Suite with a King bed on the 3rd floor. Although it is across a residential street from the beach, there was nothing blocking our view because it was just a park across the street. Our room was incredibly spacious and... more

We have stayed at The Whaler Motel 3 times now, all in single queen rooms on the 3rd floor. Our 1st visit was June 25, 2008. We stayed 1 night in room 369 with our dog and paid $89.00 + tax with the pet fee. This was before they added the balconies to the rooms. Our 2nd visit was September... more

After looking at other hotels in the area I was very happy to find that The Whaler had a reasonable rate. Wow, what a great place, especially for the price! I went with my mom so we each had our own beds, stayed on the third floor, it was perfect! A perfect view of the ocean, wonderful service, great pool/spa,... more

I was going to stay at the La Quinta sorta across the street- which was $120 plus tax (around) and did NOT have views of the ocean. I continued to call about 5 more hotels until I came across the Whaler. All of the hotels were priced through the roof- except Whaler. PLUS I got a 3rd story room with... more

We stayed at the Whaler (four adults) and we had the most beautiful view over the ocean, it couldn't have been better. The two rooms were very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was served in the lobby every morning, the muffins were fresh abd the baggles with cream cheese a pleasant surprise. We had one meal at the PANACHE, a small... more

We had the Junior Suite on the third floor. The view from our room was gorgeous!! The downside was the stairs were also close by and we had screaming teens running up and down a good portion of the night. Not the hotel's fault, of course, but it did put a sour note on a otherwise wonderful stay. The staff... more

Very nice motel, clean and nice room. Great view of the ocean from the 3rd floor. Staff was very friendly. Breakfast arrangement was a little strange as they did not have any seating for the breakfast. You got your food and took it back to your room. more

We travel to the Oregon Coast every year. One word describes it......... Spectacular! We always stay in Newport Oregon at the Whaler which is perched right on the bluff overlooking a wide expanse of coastline, the Yaqina Head Light house and beaches that beckon. No matter what weather there is always plenty to see and do. The Whaler staff is... more
