the Steens, Frenchglen, Diamond, lava flows and all the stunning geography and wildlife should be experienced - and staying at the century old Hotel Diamond with its genuine hospitality and hearty delicious meals is a must. More

Built in 1898, the Diamond Hotel is a welcoming place to spend a few days unhooked to TV, cell phone and other modern paraphenalia. The reason to go here is to explore the eastern Oregon wide open territory, to relax on the huge porch of the hotel and to enjoy meeting others there for the same reason. While there recently,... We arrived to check in for a two night stay in late July 2011. We had two couples in our party. We had made reservations sixonths in advance. Only to be told that because of a wedding, we could only stay one night at the hotel, then they were sure we would like staying in a house they rent out... More

We spent 2 nights during our trip through eastern Oregon. We made reservations after learning the French Glen hotel was full and wanted to find lodging that wasn't too far away. As it happened--we lucked out. Hotel Diamond is a wonderful place to stay. We thoroughly enjoyed the peaceful surroundings, excellent service, delicious meals, and friendly atmosphere. We didn't miss... More

We stayed with extended family: sub-teen through grandparents. Had a great time. In the past we had all camped in Eastern Oregon a lot, we weren't surprised by mosquitoes, few people, or great distances. With this background, we enjoyed our stay at the friendly, comfortable and old-fashioned Diamond Hotel. The people went out of their way to help make our... More

We were hesitant to visit Hotel Diamond but had heard so many good things that we decided to go anyway. We now return each year. For those of you who can tear yourselves away from the reality TV, blackberries, Wifi and constant bellyaching, you will find that Hotel Diamond is a place to relax and enjoy the surroundings. The “unique”... More

Here's my review of the DIAMOND HOTEL. What a PIT....ugh....other than the screen porch and the comfy couch in the entry way, what IS there to like....the mosquitos, or would it be the uncomfortable/squeeky bed...or maybe it is the "unique" furniture ah-la Salvation Army, or the carpeting in the bathroom ...or it could be the no cable, no puzzles, no... Hotel Diamond is a truly unique establishment. Sitting no fewer than 40 miles from a town with a full-service gas station, a visitor feels that he/she has stepped back into time upon reaching this well-kept inn. The Hotel is at the center of the town of Diamond--population five. The visitor will need to be aware of their surroundings: there is... More

We have stayed here and at the nearby Frenchglen Hote. We prefer the Frenchglen by a very small margin but this place is wonderful, too. Diamond Oregon is in the middle of nowhere, near the Maheur Wildlife Refuge and Steen Mountains. It is a lovely place. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Dinner was very good, and the complimentary continental breakfast... More

I have just returned from a tour of SE Oregon, and spent a night at the Hotel Diamond, in tiny Diamond Oregon (population 5). The Hotel Diamond is the "prettier sister" to the Frenchglen Hotel , where I stayed the previous night--sisters in that they hail from the same era, and that they are the only accomodations for miles and...
