- Also Known As:
- Captain Montague's Bed And Breakfast Huron, Ohio
- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
-
This elegant Victorian Italianate home was built in the late 1870's by the owner of the lumberyard who was also a master shipbuilder. Capt. C.Z. Montague, a Great Lakes captain of renown, and his wife Sarah purchased the large property in 1890 and were known throughout the area for their grand parties and receptions. Current owners, Judy & Mike Tann, have operated the B&B for 18 years carrying on the tradition of warm hospitality. They have carefully restored each of the guest rooms and all of the common areas to their former beauty. There are 2 parlors, the Irish parlor and the cranberry parlor, where guests can relax. The large dining room with its magnificent Waterford crystal chandelier welcomes guests to a delicious full breakfast ending with the house signature, Irish cottage scones. There is a galley kitchen that guests can use at any time, and there are always snacks and soft drinks available. All five of the guest rooms have private en-suite bathrooms and luxurious linens. The property runs a full city block, so there is ample parking plus lush greenery and vibrant flowers gracing the large gazebo and in-ground swimming pool. Captain Montague's is located just 2 short blocks from Lake Erie to the north and the Huron River to the east. Its location is in the historic district known as the "Old Plat"; a self-guided tour brochure developed by Huron's Historical Society provides detailed information about many of the century homes in the neighborhood. Captain Montague's B&B is a retreat for guests seeking a quiet, relaxed atmosphere where they can refresh both body and soul. The Tanns will see to it that you receive a grand Irish welcome.
