Spent christmas in the cottage as part of a tour of Tassie with 4 friends. The place felt like home very quickly with comfortable lounge, well equipped open-plan kitchen and a great patio area for outdoor dining and barbecue. Located on a small scale cattle farm, this is a beautiful spot where you feel very much removed from the hustle... More

Hi HKBruce, We are pleased you enjoyed spending time in the cottage for Christmas with your friends, being such a long way from home. There is plenty to do here, on and off the property and your party certainly experienced a wide range of activities. We welcome you back again, to stay in our contemporary accommodation, next time you are... More

We had the most amazing relaxing time between Christmas and New Year which realy calmed our stress because we were packing up a house to sell and things got a bit tense. The weather was very pleasant and enabling us to kayak in either the west or east inslet. More

Hi LynD, So glad you were able to relax and de-stress; something everyone needs to do at times, and this is just the place. As you discovered, both inlets are ideal for boating and many other guests bring along their kayaks too. Thank you for staying with us. Regards Janette More

A wonderful environment with facilities to match. It was the perfect place to relax and catch up with overseas friends and show them the special places nearby. Beach walks, birds and fabulous seafood bought from Stanley, in the comfort of a wonderful cottage. Three nights was not nearly enough! Robbie More

Proud to say the three little words to Beachside Retreat West Inlet: Charming and Unique. You'll be totally embraced by the beauty of nature when you step in this property: blue sky, turquois sea, sound of waves, native birds "orchestra", spectacular sunset, a starry night, curious cattle, etc. A beautiful town (Stanley) and "The Nut" nearby, restaurants with friendly staff... My partner and I were sitting on the couch 3 days before Christmas and we were contemplating what to do for New Years Eve. My initially thoughts were to head down the east coast but we glad we didnt........ I made the call to Janette at a latish hour and she was only too happy to help. There was only... More

Hi AndrewL, We are very pleased too, that you did not head to the east coast and enjoyed your New Year in the beautiful north west instead. You ARE in a different world here, scenic, private and peaceful; with only the sounds of the sea and the birdlife. Glad you enjoyed the magnificent views from your cabin and the dune-top... More

As first time visitors to Tasmania, we couldn't have found a better place to relax after a grueling three day hike in the South West National park. We stayed in the OysterCatcher cabin for four nights over Christmas and Boxing day and it was the perfect setting to kick back in, relax and forget about the hassles of city living.... More

Hi RochelleB, Thank you for your review and images of our cattle and the beach. I am sure your 4 night break was appreciated after your long trek into the wilds of Southern Tasmania, although we spotted you several times, exploring this area on foot. The weather, the light and colours of the sea are always changing in West Inlet... More

My wife and I stayed in the OysterCatcher for three nights at the end of November, the place lives up to it's reviews. Amazing location on a beautiful property with it's own endless beach. We wondered with the cows who seemed to be very interested in us and spent hours walking the beach. Pure relexation. More

Hi, Thank you for your review and confirming the accuracy of previous ones. The long sandy beach, with it's warm, tidal swimming lagoons at low tide, is a real asset and is one of the reasons to stay here, together with it's privacy and secluded location. If guests wish to see our Maine-Anjou breed of cattle, then we can easily... More

I could not rate this holiday experience high enough. The cabins - four in total - although within sight of each other do not impede on each other. They are all beautifully designed with one thought in mind - the view. We stayed in Pelican which is the last in the row and I think possibly the best. Highly polished... More

Hi Dean, Thank you for your complementary review and beautiful photographs, especially the amazing sunset image. We are pleased you were able to 'chill out and recharge' your batteries; it is what we hope all guests staying here are able to do. Our property is certainly private and secluded, away from the rest of the world. Tip: The electric barbecue... More

Having stayed at Saffire Freycinet Coles Bay Tasmania 12 months ago it was going to be hard to find a better location/accommodation to celebrate our first wedding anniversary, well we did. Our 3 night stay of peace and tranquillity in the Sea Eagle with the spa nestle on the sand dunes over looking Bass Strait was amazing. From the moment... More

The cabins and location itself have already been well reviewed here and the reviews are very accurate. We stayed in Penguin and we'd recommend this cabin because it is at the end of the property and is really private. Once inside you really can't see anything but nature itself through the panoramic windows all around. So, a couple of things... More

Hi, Thank you for your wonderful, lengthy review. 'Pelican' is the cabin you stayed in. It may look 'at the end of the property...' but is actually about the middle, as our beachfront, to High Water Mark, extends for approximately 2kms. Often guests who stay here, prefer to enjoy the peacefulness of the environment, to explore, relax and savour the... More
