At 17.45 two tired and slighly jaded (long walk on Exmoor!) vegetarians and a small dog are looking, somewhat optimistically, for somewhere serving good veggie food that will accommodate dogs. Enter Lorna Doon. Three courses later, retire happy and replete. Food was freshly cooked, tasty and innovative: wonderfully light cheese souffle, excellent brie and beetroot tart, and syrup pudding and... More

Stayed recently, one night only, couldnt stand another! Firstly this is a not a hotel its a tired B&B at best. Shabby chic completely by accident and in parts down right scruffy. Staff where friendly but if I were getting paid for people to sleep in my spare room I'd smile too. Menu was very limited and not suitable if... More

Stayed two nights in early May 2012. Very friendly reception. Breakfast excellent. Room small not helped by very large bed. Bathroom small but adequate but cold - had no form of heating & it was quite cold when we stayed. Not noisy at all although our room was at the front as no traffic later at night on the A39.... More

We spent 4 nights in this hotel last week. We had a very enjoyable stay with a lovely comfortable room. Toni and Mo were very welcoming. As part of the deal we needed to eat in the hotel restaurant - this was no hardship as Toni is an excellent cook, the venison steak was excellent. If we are in that... More

Had a fantastic 2 night break at the Lorna Doone Hotel in Porlock with 10 of my friends, Mo and Toni couldn't do enough to help us, I was planning my 40th and enquired whether the hotel would let us run a murder mystery party which I am pleased to say they were very happy to do. I booked 4... More

Stayed here for one night, paying £50, for which we got a small double room at the top of the building. No shower, only a bath available with a shower head attachment on taps for rinsing purposes only. No complimentary toiletries or hairdryer, just one plastic cup in the bathroom. Window overlooking street was cracked and chair very rickety. No... More

This hotel was lovely for a relaxing weekend of walking. The owners made us feel welcome. The rooms were quite old-fashioned and small. We had the stable room and there was literally only a foot or two of space around each side of the bed!
