This is a B&B by the river, picturesque is an understatement, the pub has loads of room, small and snug in one end,big and spacious at the other, great for large groups. We ate a standard meal of steak and all the trimmings and a fresh crab salad, with a bowl of chips on the side. Steak arrived very over done and tough,my dog... More

What a gem of a place, in a beautiful position with the gardens rolling down to the river Exe. Plenty of places to visit from here. Rooms are a good size and nice and clean, some with views. The food is extremely good, yummy in fact. Ann & John are very welcoming and want your stay to be enjoyable, lovely.... More

We chose to stay at the Anchor Inn because of its idyllic & peaceful location and we could bring our Dog. John and Ann were very welcoming and accommodating - nothing was too much trouble. As a vegetarian,it was great to have a selection of choices from the dinner menu and the portions were very generous. The breakfasts were hearty... More

John was a great host, very helpful. Rooms were just what you need, very comfy beds and a fantastic view looking over the countryside and river running next to the Inn. Only problem was the service with food, a bit slow and felt unorganized, but from what I understand John is new to the Inn, so I'm sure this'll improve... More

Away for a short one night's break in Exmoor on Boxing night. Needing to feed a family of 6 for the evening I must say I thought that IF we did find somewhere it would be a pickle egg and bag of crips meal. So to all of my families surprise we managed not only to find a Public house... More

This pub has 'location, location'. The view from our bedroom windows (room number 5) was wonderful. The river Barle goes rushing by, swallows swoop outside the window, a view also of the huge picture postcard garden stocked with beautiful flowers and beautifully tended. The garden would make a wonderful backdrop for wedding photos. Plenty of parking, the premises spotless inside... More

Title sums it up! The setting is perfect, the pub is full of character and the locals are very friendly. The landlord was chatty and welcoming. The food was old fashioned pub food which came in good portions for a reasonable price. I had baked cod with prawns in salsa, my husband had sea bass with almond butter. The real... More

We have just returned from a weekend at the hotel, and it was lovely, it is in a very beautiful spot where you can take some lovely walks. The food is lovely expecially the breakfasts, and the evening starter of goats cheese pea puree and panchetta. The rooms are very clean and comfortable with little extras like biscuits, hairdryer, shampoo... More

My wife and I have just returned from a weekend at this pub with our dog. The property is in a great setting next to the river Exe which was one of the reasons we booked it. The experience though did not match up to the surroundings. Firstly, we had not been told that building works were taking place so... More
