I was able to check in even though I arrived early. Ross carried upstairs my two big bags and showed me the room and amenities. Queen-size bed, nice sheets. Ensuite has small sink and decent shower, towel-warming rack. Wood-beam ceiling. Glad to have a desk and chair and a small fridge with two bottles of water. Flat-screen TV on wall,... More

So pleased you enjoyed your stay will us and I trust the rest of you trip worked out as well, give our regards to Victoria when you get home, great place. I know what you mean about the WiFi, in comparison to Canada it’s snail’s pace! Three years ago we were promised the old phone lines would be upgrades to... More

Ross and Isabel have combined the best features of a hotel and a B&B in the White House. Lovely food, friendly and attentive hosts, but still very professional and with the little extras that you expect in a hotel but not a B&B - individual toiletries, biscuits with the drinks tray, and a cafetiere so you don't have to suffer... We spent our anniversary at The White House and it was perfect from start to finish. As a vegan with added special dietary requirements, it isn't always easy to get a decent meal out. Ross and Isabel were fabulous. I have never had so much choice of food and felt completely confident in their knowledge of food provision and handling.... More

So pleased you felt you were ‘staying with friends’ this is just the atmosphere we try to create. When families stay we hope the children feel they are staying at their favourite Aunt and Uncles country house! Sorry the bed was a bit firm for Chris, it’s very difficult to know just how soft or hard to aim for with... More

Ross and Isabel could not do more to make us feel welcome, and genuinely enjoy their B&B. The property is spacious and private. The food is sourced from the very best of sources, and you will certainly taste the difference- I would drive a long way for such flavours! Brilliant

Many thanks for the kind words. It is always good to learn we are getting things right, it makes the efforts we take to make you feel you are at you favourite Uncles county house all worthwhile. Good luck in July and look forward to seeing you again in October, if not sooner! Fear not there will be even more... More

What would you expect of a good BnB? Good food, optional evening meal, free range chickens providing the eggs at breakfast, sourcing local producers for all the best ingredients. Oh and very informed and convivial hosts! This is the place for all the above. Never before did we think to have an 'all inclusive' break but thought to indulge the... More

I've lived int he UK for nearly 10 years and have stayed at countless B &B. This is probably one of the best B &Bs (if not "the best") that I've stayed at. Highly recommended and even worth a detour if you happen to be in the area. We stayed in the garden room which has a nice window seat.... More

Many thanks for your comments; it’s nice to know our hard work is worthwhile. Feedback on our, very occational, failings is essential to our continued improvement. Our hot water tank holds almost 1000lt of very hot water and we have only encountered a ‘run-out’ once before, in the morning, when our whirlpool bath was brim filled three times in quick succession.... By far the best B&B I have ever stayed in. Run by a lovely couple who really can cook very well indeed! Room was flawless, as was the service. You even get afternoon tea in the garden when you arrive. Definitely stay in for an evening meal. If you don't eat meat then go for the Vegi Haggis!

We stopped for three nights over the May bank holiday weekend and it was perfect from tea and biscuits on arrival to full English (veggie and meat) on departure. The food was delicious with loads of veggie options, the room ideal and the location next to the canal makes for a pleasant stroll to build up the appetite. Ross and... More
