We were warmly welcomed after a long journey, and had a hearty, tasty meal. A quiet night's sleep and a decent breakfast set us up for a busy day. It is good to see this traditional inn still keeps its character, and the ale was great! There was off-road parking behind the hotel, and at the front you step out... More

I have been to many hotels in my recent travels but none so instantly inviting. The Propriators, Mel & Eddie, feel like old friends and can't do enough for you to make you welcome and comfortable. At first, what seems like an ordinary pub is transformed by the atmosphere of locals and guests alike. Then, out of nowhere, comes the... More

I have read tripadviser and wondered if I have been to the same place as some of the reviews as I have never had a complaint about anywhere I’ve visited. That was until I went to The Bell for my birthday. It has some of the rudest staff I have ever met and was shock by the way I was... More

The Bell hotel seems OK and full of character on the outside and downstairs ther bar is lovely too, but the rooms and bathrooms simply look tired and in much need of renovation. I have come to expect so much more from a £70 room. From my experiences these rooms should be priced beteen £40 - £50 pounds; and the... More

We booked a room here as they are dog friendly and weren't dissapointed with our stay. The room was clean and spacious and the bed very comfortable, the food was excellent and plentiful and Mel and Eddie made us very welcome. They went out of their way to sort out a glitch with the electric heater in our room- even... More

We spent 2 nights here recently in the family room, and will return. The room was spacious for the 4 of us (one double, one single and a fold out bed; children aged 5 and 7), and quiet despite being in the centre of town. Bathroom basic but fine, bath with shower over, very spacious again. We ate in the... More

We stopped here for a lunch only recently. Faringdon town itself looked a bit bombed-out like most small towns in Britain these days and The Bell did not look too hopeful from the outside. However the two staff were pleasant and welcoming and the food was very good with what seemed to be a genuine home-made steak and kidney pie... More
