Our son & new daughter in law had their wedding reception at the trout the end of April, the venue was perfect for a spring wedding, the staff worked very hard to make it a very pleasant & enjoyable day, the food was excellent & plentiful, overall a very relaxing & pleasant atmosphere, the manager Helen made sure that we... My husband and I went kayaking this morning at Culham/ Dorchester, what a lovely part of the country. We drove home and thought we'd call in to a pub for a beer and lunch. How horrified we were to pull in to the car park and be accosted by 2 members of staff shouting at us that they didn't allow... More

It is very frustrating to get a review like this, when we work so hard to make all our guests feel welcome. I am afraid an over zealous member of staff was officious with this couple, but in her defence, we had struggled all day with guests who felt that they could use our car park without using the pub.... A Thames-side pub with character and thriving despite it's remote location. We enjoyed a good quality meal with a fine bottle of rosé. First rate service without being pushy, and pleased to find the old fashioned "gratuity at your discretion" for a change. And, yes, I did have the trout!

We have stayed here twice now, with our first visit in May 2012. On that occasion it was as a first night of a five day canoe trip down the River Thames. So two of us plus the dog arrived damp and dirty, having paddled 13 leisurely and picturesque miles from Lechlade. The owner was wonderfully welcoming, and we secured... More

The Trout was our daughter and fiances chosen venue for their wedding reception at the end of April. We occupied all 6 hotel rooms on Friday and Saturday, my wife and I and two elderly relatives also stayed for four nights. We have nothing but high praise for Helen (the owner) and her staff for making this very special occasion... More

We were looking for somewhere to stay for a couple of nights whilst our daughter was away with school, and booked the suite at the Trout Inn after finding it on the internet and reading the reviews. We were not at all disappointed, and have had a thoroughly nice stay. We arrived a little earlier than expected at about 1130,... More

Whilst staying at Fallowfields Hotel, we asked for a recommendation for Sunday lunch. The Trout Inn was their reply. We called in at 10.30am to book a table for 4 and was greeted by a very friendly lady who took our reservation. We arrived back at our appointed time, after a 2.5 hr walk to a thriving restaurant and pub.... More

We stopped at The Trout while walking the Thames Path - we just popped in for a drink and were made very welcome, even though they were busy serving lunches. A good selection of real ales and wines was available, and plenty of soft drink options too. The food menu appeared to be diverse and varied enough to appeal to... More

Today, we popped in for a little lunch but just our small helpings. We have been at the Trout in several times with local great friends, but quite a couple of years ago our lunches were excellent with happy, helpful waiters, some a delightful Polish barman, etc. Today, we drove up to Oxford area and decided to return to lovely... My husband booked a two night stay at the Trout Inn for my birthday. We looked at the reviews and the pictures and thought fabulous. We arrived - got a great reception from the staff and shown to our room. Initially all looked good but the room was chilly (on a wet miserable day it would have been nice is... More
