I have just returned from a 5 day stay with a friend at this hotel.. It is a 18th century English Baroque building set in exrensive grounds, which you were free to roam in if you wished. We were placed in the Coach House which was across a drive-way from the main hotel. We did not find this a disadvantage,... More

We stayed as a party of 23 retired people on a National Trust trip. First (and lasting) impression – very disappointing: dingy décor; a morbid, characterless bar, filthy upholstery on chairs, dominated by a wall-mounted TV; general air of neglect and lack of maintenance, e.g. ivy growing through window frames in lounge, dingy, depressing dining room (parties are given the... Stayed 1 night B & B in a double room in the Coach House, the cost - £150. The room was small, with various marks and gouges on the walls and the decor was also very drab. The bathroom was OK but had a couple of black scuff marks on the floor and the wash basin taps wobbled. The bed... More

stayed in the hotels timber cabins. These are just behind the car park, and i do mean just behind. From the outside number 22 mitford lodge needed work, the exterior decking bannister were loose, and there were exposed nails. Inside the lodge needed gutting and starting again. Felt very grubby. The whole place stank of damp when we arrived. A... More

This hotel is holding on to the four star rating by a thread. Low pressure on the cold water system means it is virtually impossible to have an effective shower. The staff have poor conversational skills and the food in the restaurant is poor, vegetables served at the table five minutes before the main, overlooked and tasteless. The hotel states... More

Stayed for a wedding and decided to push the boat out to an executive room as a treat. On arrival the reception staff were miserable and far from cheerful. We presumed wrongly we would be able to grab a bar meal but because weddings were on there was only afternoon tea. It said served with salmon and cream cheese sandwiches... More

As we drove down the woodland driveway to the hotel and saw the views of an impressive looking hotel through the trees I hoped my initial impression was sign of things to come. The building is Victorian and over the years has been put to various uses latterly a YMCA before becoming a hotel some years ago. It consists of... More

Quite expensive for what it is. Staff were very helpful but so few guests made the atmosphere lacking. Food was very good.

Really enjoyed Otterburn. Stayed for one night in March 2011. Hotel is gorgeous, room was very nice and comfortable. Lovely jacuzzi bath!! The staff were more than happy to help you. Food was amazing and so was breakfast! We had a nice wander round the grounds.. nothing much there but was still lovely! Got to see the wildlife! Only downside... More
