I had previously reviewed here but wish to change my comments. My previous review was rated "average" and I was never overly impressed with the place. However, I saw in a local paper of an offer for £5pppn stay during February and that it was under new management since late summer of last year. We went for this and have... More

Usually eat here in the summer when staying along the road at Proctor Steads caravan site. The food since the new owners took over is great. So we thought we would try staying there for a night. We were not dissapointed in any way.Its very friendly and very reasonably priced. The staff are very attentive. Thoroughly recomended. More

Intriguing drive through the woods to the entrance to the Cottage Inn! Where were we going to end up? Answer, in a clean good sized room, friendly staff and really good food (and massive portions!). Our only criticism would echo a previous comment: the smell of cooking does permeate the bar and reception area. Still a good choice. More

Room was clean and spacious, all up to standard. The bed linen was fresh and the bed very comfortable. Food was excellent, wide choice and everything so fresh. I chose this place for it's location and is best place I stayed ever. This hotel definitely gives value for money. I will certainly return and recommend this unique place in beautiful... More

Stayed at the Cottage Inn for a 2 night break - great location. The rooms were a decent size and very clean. The staff were very friendly and attentive and the food was excellent. With beer at 2 for £5 and a bottle of wine for £9 it was well worth the money. Will definitely be returning and recommending to... More

A group of seven stayed four nights and we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The location is excellent for touring Northumberland. All on one level with delightful grounds, a very peaceful and relaxing place to stay. Rooms are modern and very comfortable, good food and drinks all at a reasonable price. Nice to find a dog friendly hotel and there... More

Whilst staying in Northumberland we visited the Cottage Inn for dinner. The welcome was typical, warm north country, the service excellent and friendly and the food was wonderful. My wife had lamb, tender and succulent whilst I had a venison burger with excellent chips! Wine by the glass and real ale complemented the meal. Well worth a visit! More

Ours was a one night stay bed and breakfast for two weary cyclists at an inn that quite frankly was the only choice in the area to fit our requirements ie real ale, evening meal, single night stay, twin beds and secure parking for cycles. There was a fantastic choice of well kept real ales and food of a high... More

The pub was a 5 minute walk from the proctor's Stead campsite where we were staying so having had a busy day it was a handy place to go for dinner and a drink. The food was top notch for a pub. My wife had crab and lobster fish cakes and I had a steak & leak pie. Both dishes... More

Stopped here for lunch with our dog, the place didn't look too promising at first sight and we were the only people in the place at the time, however the staff were friendly and the food was of a reasonable quality with plentiful portions. More
