We enjoyed our stay at the Porch House. The house is very old (it has played a part in Northallerton's history) but the bedrooms have been bought up to date with all modern conveniences. The breakfasts were delicious. The owners were welcoming and hospitable.

In a way I am reluctant to write this review as I I am afraid I will miss out the more popular Porch House becomes! This is outstanding accomodation in every way, the history, the location of Northallerton itself as a gateway to the Dales and Moors, the quality of the rooms, the incredible breakfasts and the most accomodating hosts... Glyn and Joanna were the perfect couple to run this truly lovely bed and breakfast accommodation. We were made so comfortable from the moment the gate was opened to park the car. The four poster in our beautiful bedroom, the lounge with the open fire, the breakfast room again with an open fire all contributed to our memorable stay. The... More

Stayed here many years ago and returned to discover that improvements have been made by the new owners. We had the large, four poster room which was beautiful. There are high quality fixtures and fittings everywhere and the bed was extremely comfortable. There is a lovely cosy lounge downstairs where a coal fire was lit every evening. On arrival we... More

From the moment we steped over the threshold Joanna & Glyn were so welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The breakfasts were superb, wonderfully cooked with many choices. The house has been beautifully restored to a very high standard and the bedrooms reflected the care and attention that has been lavished upon them. The open fires and somewhere... More

From arriving to leaving everything was 1st class. We were greeted with warmth from Joanne and Glyn and were kept that way by their hospitality, extremely comfortable accommodation, roaring fires and superb breakfast. It is so obvious the whole renovations have been carried out with love. Nothing has been spared. It is more than evident everything has been done to... More

We stayed at the Porch House for a week in September, and can't say enough about this terrific Bed and Breakfast. Our four-poster room was spacious, beautifully appointed, and the bed was oh so comfortable! The shower and bathroom fittings were first-class and quite high enough for my 6-foot tall husband (one room in the very oldest part of the... More
