This hotel is a little gem that is tucked away in the North Yorkshire . Very friendly and welcoming staff. Beautiful courtyard and amazing scenery. Rooms are spacious and modern. The biggest surprise staying here is the restaurant. It should be given a Michelin star, the food is beautifully presented and locally sourced. The menu is imaginative and the extra... More

The General Tarleton Inn in Ferrensby near Knaresborough is not somehwere we would normally have chosen to stay on a one-day visit to Yorkshire, but we are very glad we did. The room we were allocated was on the first floor at the end of the corridor, so it was very peaceful and away from the main activities of the... More

Me and my husband came here for a meal about a month ago, the food was amazing! Me and my husband both had the king scallops to start which were lovely, i then had seabass which was beautiful and my husband had fillet, although we did have to send back the steak as it was slightly underdone, the kitchen and... Now there are restaurants and special places where food is sublime, service is excellent and you feel like wanting to stay as long as it is possible to enjoy every moment of it. We were treated like royalty by manager Enzo (a real gentleman and a fantastic host), the food was the best I have had in a very long... More

The rooms wrea at bit bland, but comfortable. The floors are very creaky, and when a guest got up at 5:30am we all knew about it!!! The food in the restaurant is fabulous, and the staff were very helpful and friendly.

We had an early saturday evening meal and the food was fairly good but not historic. Whilst the menu looked attractive, some of the courses were a miss and seemed a bit style over substance. Unfortunately what took the edge off the meal was the discraceful attitude of the manager (Enzo) to his staff. He mercilessly picked on one of... More

We stayed for one night on a special offer deal and it cost us £75 for 2 bed and breakfast. Even though it was fantastic I have to say I wouldn't have wanted to pay more - I'm not saying it's not worth it, just that I wouldn't be happy to pay more. Having said that it was very very... More

We were travelling from Newcastle to Leicester and wanted to break the journey and found this absolute gem just 3 miles off the motorway. Beautifully equipped, tasteful decor but above all fantastic quality food both at night and for breakfast, served by charming staff who appear to enjoy and take a pride in their jobs. Real ale is a passion... More

What a find the General Tarleton is, Enzo, the Manager was wonderfully professional and extremely interesting; the staff, especially the young man in the restaurant, were so helpful and courteous and the food was a gastronomic experience, I couldn't wait to go down to dine each evening. We stayed 3 nights and came away extremely relaxed but we must have... More
