We were given gift vouchers to contribute to our recent stay as other family members are regular visitors. We stayed in the coach house which we found quiet and peaceful. Staff were welcoming and friendly, attentive and pleasant without being invasive. We sampled afternoon tea in the bar by a roaring fire, leisurely reading the papers as the river rushed... More

My husband and I stayed here for 1 night (sadly not 2) over the weekend as a 40th birthday treat for him. We have been wanting to come here for a few years, and we were not disappointed... It had been snowing most of the morning and by 2pm when we checked in, it had really got it's grip... this... More

The Inn is loveley, and the grounds are amazing. I like dogs, but I stayed mid week and most people had a dog with them and frankly it was a bit much. Could there not be a limit on the number, or perhaps a seperate dining room/bar for non dog-owners. I was getting chesty and weasy at the end of... More

We have just celebrated my husband's 50th birthday here and I was helped to organise a Sunday lunch for friends which was great, the staff couldn't do enough to help and make it really special. We stayed the night before and had dinner in the bar with some friends and our children and the food is amazing, the ambience and... More

Having just returned from a fantastic stay here, I feel compelled to recommend, quite unreservedly, this idyllic country retreat. This is England at its very finest and my wife and I have already planned to return. It is rare that one cannot find anything to criticise, however, that was genuinely the case here. The staff are friendly and attentive whilst... More

This was our second two-night stay at the Inn at Whitewell, again in January to celebrate a birthday. We spent some time selecting the right room and in the end went for room 5. It is on the 1st floor, more or less over the bar's dining area and overlooks the river. It was a good choice and we were... More

So glad you enjoyed the stay, January is our quietest month and my wife thinks it is the best time to come and stay, I prefer August! Look forward to seeing you next time you come, I think you would really like room 11, we have just finished re-doing it. Many thanks again. Reagrds CB More

Had been trying to stay here for ages and after finally getting a room the experience did not disappoint. Stayed in Room 3 with a four poster bed (great nights sleep) and had the fire lit (£6 extra but would have been foolish not to have the fire as it added to the luxurious ambiance of the room). The huge... More

Huge thanks for the review, so glad you enjoyed your stay. I quite understand about the gowns, we are on with this, ideally we would have and launder are own but we don't have enough electrical supply (the only downside of our rural location) Effective as of last week, all tea and coffee to the rooms are complimentary, saving the... We stayed for 3 nights in Room 11, right at the top of the main building. The room was lovely, providing the ambience of an old country house with plenty of space. I have only 2 reservations about the room. Firstly there is no hospitality tray or even bottled water and glasses. This means that if you have a sleepness... More

Many thanks for you review, I am so glad you enjoyed your stay, we really appreciate your comments. You honestly don't need to bring a kettle or a billy can on your next visit, now tea and coffee to the rooms is complimentary all day and night. Quite understand your point about robes and we are nearly there, we just... More

Having now stayed 3 times in 3 months- as I have for almost 15 years- I thought it as well to record the quality of the rooms and food, particularly after the refurbishment of several rooms, and the additions made in the last few years. The quality is now superb and up with the best. As always there are eccentric... More

We have been to Inn at Whitewell before for bar meals only and loved the food and atmosphere of the place and how they don't mind dogs being there too. So we thought we would try an overnight stay for our anniversary and stayed in The Coachouse Room 23. On arrival with our 2 doggies we booked in and went... More

Many thanks for your review. I am pleased you enjoyed your stay. Sorry we didn't tell you about the tea tray they are only tucked away in room 22 and 24, I wonder if you might have been in one of those rooms. Hope we see you and the dogs again. Regards CB More
