My wife and I stayed at the Anchor in for 1 night. The package included dinner that night and breakfast the next morning. The room was very nice, quiet, clean and well appointed. Dinner was exceptional. Breakfast was acceptable. It was not a cheap package but seemed worth it to us. The bar was great and felt very authentic. The... More

We stayed here on our way to a wedding in Wiltshire. We wanted somewhere to chill for a couple of days in comfort whilst enjoying gastro pub food and drinks. The Anchor Inn did not disappoint, it completely outshone our expectations. We stayed in the Rupert Brooke room, which has a gorgeous balcony looking over the pub garden and beautiful... More

We were served up a delicious, expertly-cooked meal at the Anchor but that wasn't what spurred us to write this review. The rooms here are absolutely wonderful. Clearly no expense has been spared in turning this pub into a luxury place  to lay one's head. Full of character, super-comfortable bed, instant full-throttle wi-fi, great toiletries and above all quiet. Once... More

You must try The Anchor Inn, the food was really enjoyable, chicken liver parfait, crab starter, truly amazing steak & ale pie, red cabbage and Great pork loin - honestly can't wait to go back Service was okay, decor and ambience first class and an obviously relaxed, happy clientele We are converts and left it a ridiculous amount of time... My partner and I got married at the Anchor Inn, Lower Froyle in September 2011, we also had our wedding breakfast and evening reception there too. The day could not have been more perfect. The setting is gorgeous, the pub inside is lovely with something interesting on every wall and in every corner and the staff were lovely. There is... More

Stayed the night in late August and also ate in the restaurant in the evening. The pub is located on a quiet road near Alton with lovely views over arable fields. We stayed in the Robert Graves room which at £130 is a bit toppy but it was a lovely room being genuinely olde worlde without being too staged and... More

We stayed in the Rupert Brooke room which is a large double room with balcony and ensuite shower room. The balcony is accessed from a triple door. There is no separate reception for the hotel rooms and a member of the pub staff took us up to our room. Unfortunately, it was a hot afternoon and the sun had been... More

I stayed at the Anchor because Basingstoke is so dull and expensive. Whilst not the cheapest place to stay, it's more than comparable with some of the major chain hotel in Basingstoke and 1000 times better. The rooms are superb: big beds, fantastic individual decoration, fresh milk and orange in the fridge. The pub is loaded with character and the... More
