My husband and I stayed at Thornbury Castle for our Anniversary in May. We stayed in the 'Stafford', which is a beautiful room with a spectacular en-suite bath and shower room. We spent the afternoon enjoying the fabulous grounds including the Tudor gardens and 'swimming/floating' in the extra large bath tub! The staff at the Castle couldn't have been more... More

We stayed at Thornbury Castle for our Honeymoon in the New Year for 3 nights. On arriving, the gentleman behind the desk was a little chilly but we were still on a buzz from the wedding so didn't really faze us much. We were shown to our room and had to ask where to park the car and if there... More

Went there with our 3 kids and 2 other families for the bank holiday week-end. Kids were very excited to spend time in a "real castle".... The site is indeed pretty impressive but let's face it: despite being part of the "luxury family hotel" group / label, it is neither "luxury" nor "family". We saw 3 rooms (including those where... A last minute stay, arrived at the hotel at 10pm, a choice of rooms, which reception said we could look at before deciding. We decided to go on her recommendation and the room was called Plantagenet, a fabulous room, with bare castle walls, a fabulous four poster bed. Would recommend for it's Castle feel. However disappointed with the thread bare... More

Celebrated our 25th anniversary here, and it was amazing. Stunning room. Excellent service and atmosphere/history PLUS! If you're 'into' castles and history, this is a great place to come.

We fear this is an unique historic property in decline. Our excitement in staying here was tempered by the sight of threadbare carpet in our room, broken light bulbs not being replaced and a general feeling of neglect. The room was also way too hot, OK there was a lovely fire burning in the fireplace, but even after turning this... More

We stayed at Thornbury Castle in March this year and held a private dinner as a part of a birthday celebration. Firstly, the service was fantastic from start to finish with that degree of panache that you would expect from such a magnificent building. The private dinner was for 12 people and normally these means bad service and food. The... More

My boyfriend and I stayed at this hotel during a trip to London in April. It's not too far from London, about 2 hours by train (and then taxi). I really wanted to stay in a castle, and this renovated castle/hotel is a great choice. The room was spacious and very comfortable. The bed was one of the softest ones... More

We were lucky enough to spend a fabulous night here in the Plantagenet Suite. This is truly a memorable experience! The staff was so welcoming and made us feel very special throughout our stay. Our room was fabulous, with stone walls, fireplace a four-poster bed and the most amazing bathroom. The history of the place is amazing and we truly... More

Converted castle that has not lost any of it's charm or character. Room have the complete period look and feel, even if the bathrooms have some interesting period features. The rest of the hotel maintains the classic Castle look and feel, whilst the food in the Restaurant is equally top notch. Worth hunting out deals on this venue since there... More
