Stayed here for a diamond wedding anniversary elsewhere in Southend.only stayed one night. The room was okay, but cold when we arrived,it had a really strong plug-in air freshener, which I switched off straight away,as it was so over powering. The room was at the back of the hotel, which overlooked a scruffy courtyard garden and garage.Once the heating came on later in the day... I had a Birthday Luncheon here for seventeen people on Easter Sunday, it was excellent. The food was well presented, and hot, from the Lobster Thermidor to the roasts, and was delicious. The service and attention given to our needs was perfect, nothing was too much trouble for them. A great meal and time was had by all, many thanks... More

We stayed at the Camelia while in Southend for a wedding. We were given double room 22 in the Annex part of the hotel. The room was very small but had a nice bathroom. It was also very nicely decorated and we thought the breakfasts were also incredibly good. Overall, very good value for money. However, we found our room... More

Stayed here at the weekend for a party - stayed in what I presume is one of the family rooms - located at the back of the hotel overlooking the fire escape....incredibly dated room, pink bathroom suite being the highlight! Beds comfortable enough but in need of some new pillows, not sure of the quality of all other rooms but... More

We had a very nice stay at the Camelia! Our room was very large and spotless with a beautiful sea view . Dinner at night was delicious, the staff serving were very friendly and professional. The breakfast the following morning was also delicious! The Camelia is very hard to fault. Thank you for such a lovely stay!

As seaside hotels go the Camelia is a cut above the rest. We booked a standard double room but were delighted to be upgraded to a sea-view room without charge. The decor in the hotel and in our room was tasteful and we found the staff very helpful. There was a large flatscreen TV in our room and a comfortable... More
