I stayed in the Four-Poster room recently and was very impressed with the standard and quality of the stay. The room was traditionally decorated and furnished, with exposed beams and upright arm chairs that instantly made me feel welcome and cosey. The Proprietor, Peter, was enthusiastic and very warming, and made sure I settled into the room and understood everything... More

This B&B is in dire need of a make over. Every room needs modernising. From the moment you walk in, there is a pungent smell of old carpets and grease. The bedroom we stayed in still had toe nails and hair from (the) previous guests, however many that was. Also the room didnt look like it had been properly cleaned... More

This is the second time we have stayed at Rothmans as a precursor to the local V festival and a weekend of camping, and for the price you pay it's not as bad as is made out by some of these reviews. The building is old and has plenty of character, the breakfast is good and kept me going most... More

This was the most interesting B&B I have stayed in in a long time. But interesting not in a particularly good way. Firstly we were told our en suite wasn’t ‘finished’ and had to use the bathroom down the corridor – that I can live with. And when I saw the non finished en suite I was a little surprised... More

A lovely old building but could do with alot of tlc!!The room we stayed in on apperance looked nice but on closer inspection it needed a good clean!!As also the bathrooms, they looked like they hadnt seen any cleaning products for a long time. These were not en-suite. Breakfast was served on time (full english)but you had to make your own Tea/Coffee... More

Owner is friendly. Bed reasonably comfortable. Prices reasonable Rooms ok at a quick glance, but not that clean in some areas. Large carpet on our room badly stained, so slippers might be advisable. Unable to put clothes into the chest of drawers due to the dirt inside, so we lived out of the suitcase. No en suite but 4 lots... More

Stayed on business trip.400yr old building with beams. Room rather small but comfortable with TV and tea and coffee, but no en-suite. Breakfast good but served around one large table for 6 persons. Garden full of childrens toys from the adjoining nursery which is part of the hotel. Hotel hidden behind brick wall.

BnB wasn't as hard to find as other review suggested, but is a bit unusual as I was let in by some of the nursery school staff from next door (they use the garden during the day). It's a really lovely old building, but is in need of repair. Peter, the owner/manager (?) was friendly and welcoming and made sure... More

I stayed there as it was very close to a wedding reception which I was attending near by. I arrived just after dark (17:30), It was quite hard to spot the place, and even harder to work out how to get in, as the door bell can’t be heard from all parts of the house, therefore getting in was a... This place could be wonderful, but lets itself down with poor cleanliness and poor service. There was debris (dirty cotton wool and medical packaging) in one of the drawers, and when we switched on the bedside light we could see the dust and some long blond hairs attached to the lampshade ( neither of us have long blonde hair!). We... More
