Our stay with Janet and Andrew was simply a thoroughly enjoyable experience. This gorgeous converted barn in the middle of beautiful Sussex could not be more perfect. it was indeed a great pleasure to be welcomed so warmly by Janet and Andrew, who saw to all our needs. Our room had all the character of an old milking shed, but... More

Charming converted barn surrounded by lush green farm land. Country cosy furnishing (watch out for low beams), clean and comfortable. Wake up to a lovely view of lambs running around the fields and birdsong. It’s incredibly quiet and peaceful, ideal if you want to get away from it all. Breakfast was full English with home baked bread and newly laid... More

My husband and I stayed here recently on a short weekend break from London. The hosts were very friendly and the views were beautiful. The garden was huge and led onto rolling fields where we went for a charming walk. We will definitely be returning in the future, it was just what we were looking for for a weekend break... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
ST BENEDICT’S BYRE is set at the end of a farm lane, about 1.5 miles from the pretty village of Catsfield, surrounded with amazing views and walks. Battle is about four miles away; and Hastings, with its historical old town and fishing huts, seven miles. The Byre is within hitting distance of many National Trust properties: Bateman’s, Sissinghurst Castle and Gardens, Bodiam Castle and Battle Abbey. There are plenty of interesting watering holes with great Sussex fare and ales for you to enjoy, along with scrumptious afternoon teas. THE BYRE is a converted dairy and milking parlour facing south and enjoying amazing weather and sunsets. We source our entire breakfast ingredients organically from local supplies, while supplying our own fresh organic eggs. On a fine morning, you can take breakfast on the terrace watching the chickens play in the gardens and several sheep with their lambs. Depending on the time of year you visit, the chickens rub shoulders with young heifers in our three-acre field. We welcome children 12 years and over, but are unable to accommodate pets, including dogs left in cars over night. This is a smoke free house. ... more   less
