We spent two nights in Sutherland House, Southwold , facilities where fantasticly luxurious with the largest bed and bath i have ever seen . This historical listed building's relaxed and charming ambiance is matched only by the hard work and dedication that clearly goes into the quality focused selection of food and dizzying selection of wine, the fish is truely... more

We visited Southwold again with our young Son in October half term. Such a beautiful place but very very busy as you'd expect. So came the lunchtime dash. All of the restaurants on the way up from the seafront were bursting at the seams and we were just about to call it a day when we decided to head further... more

Stayed here for 2 nights in the Earl of Sandwich room for my birthday in October. It was incredible. Stunning room, amaaaazing bathroom, delicious home made cookies in the room, along with a selection of DVDs to watch and L'Occitane goodies. Loved coming back to our room after a walk along the beach, having a bath, then going downstairs to... more

We have just had a fantastic break here for my 40th birthday. We stayed in the Duke of York room, which was large and bright - comfy bed too. The meal was wonderful and nothing was too much trouble. The staff were really welcoming, especially Penny, who was just lovely. Breakfast the next day was delicious - I really recomend... more

Can't vouch for the hotel (although it did look lovely) but the food is amazing. I'm trying to describe what it's like and can only say it was simply the best meal I've ever had - and I've had a few! My foody wife felt the same which is accolade indeed if you knew her :) more

As many have said before, this wonderful Southwold gem is primarily a restaurant with boutique style rooms - rather than a hotel with a restaurant tacked on. We stayed in the Duke of York room, which has a very special ceiling (pargetted? spelling!) . My husband is 6ft 2" and was able to walk around happily with out stooping (other... more

We went to Southwold for a short break away from the concrete jungle, and what a break! Staying in the Sutherland suite with our own living room and residents entrance made our stay relaxing and felt like a real private getaway. The Suite was spotless, comfortable and spacious. After being so impressed with the room we asked to have dinner... more

I am so glad that I didn't take much notice of some of the other reviews, otherwise we would have missed one of the most memorable breaks we have ever had. The hotel is full of charm and tastefully decorated, our evening meal on our first night was probably one of the best we have ever had. Our hosts, Penny... more

My wife and I took advice from friends and visited Southwold. We stayed in Sutherland House for two nights and were delighted with the rooms and service. The decor and cleanliness were top notch. Food in the Restaurant we had on our first night was superb, well presented and really tasty! Happy smiling staff - well done to you all.... more
