We booked on Tuesday and arrived on Thursday so we were hardly entitled to expect the best room in the house although, our room, Blackfriars, was described as a best room. The room itself was bright and airy but being close to six foot in height we found that we were either crouching about in a stooped position or hitting... More

The Ship clearly has some staffing issues that need to be resolved. We stayed Sunday 27th May, staff too busy to greet, when we asked if we could order lunch we were told 'yes, if you hurry up' ! Waited for dinner instead, ordered 1 fish and chips, one plaice special. The plaice was really overcooked, and just all bones. We... More

Stayed for two nights over the weekend. Dunwich is a small village - much smaller than it was in the 1200 `s but you can find that out when you visit ! A good but small museum offers an insight into the history. Hotel saff were very friendly and informative; both in the hotel and bar / restaurant areas. Good... More

We have stayed in the ship a number of times and continue to be impressed, the staff are always pleasant and welcoming. We love coming back from a long walk to a welcoming fire (yes it was May!) good local food and good beer.

This was the second year almost to the week to stay at The Ship and it did not dissapoint. Using this as a base to walk across Dunwich Heath to Minsemere on one day and on the next day to Southwold via Walberswick and Dingle Shingle and then Dingle Marsh on the return was great. If you are looking for... More

Could not fault The Ship Inn. Excellent self contained annex for dog lovers. Food was very good & reasonably priced. Lovely old bar with fire, good ales & friendly welcoming staff.

We have just returned from a brief stay at The Ship in the historically interesting village of Dunwich in Suffolk. The staff were very efficient and friendly and the food was excellent. All ingredients both at dinner and at breakfast were clearly of the highest quality. We went for two days taking advantage of a deal offered by Living Social... More

I had booked for 2 nights with my wife for a birthday weekend. We are more "golf, shopping and good food" people than "hiking, biking and walking" and maybe the choice of where to stay was wrong for us. After one night we felt we had seen and done enough and - as we were going to visit Aldeburgh, Snape... More

I visited Dunwich a lot in my childhood and was keen to return. At The Ship I was not dissapointed!!! In a lovely tranquil setting minutes from the beach awaits a warm welcome. The room was spacious, clean & comfortable with modern decor & lovely giant prints of old photos of Dunwich. There was a huge bathroom with a bath... More

Stayed for one night at The Ship @ Dunwich what a great place to stay!. Rooms are not large but beautifully decorated, they have everything you need for a comfortable cosy stay, eat in the bar for our evening meal and all I can say is WOW to the Fish & Chips, amazing best I have ever eaten in a...
