This place was amazing! Away form the other hotels, yet only a 10m walk into the village. Rooms were very clean and spacious! Superb service, for ANYTHING you need and with a smile. The best bit was the food. I am one hell of a fussy eater, yet the chef cooked up stuff that beat what I have eaten in... more

We, a family of 4 including 12 and 14 year old children, spent 2 nights at the Verandah in the Forest. Getting there was an amazing experience for us as there is no motorised transport from the car park to the hotel. We chose a horse each and a lady porter to carry our bags for the hour long trip... more

We visited this hotel during a long weekend in April. We stayed at this hotel for one night, but left with the intention of returning for a longer stay. Though not as large and elaborate like the Neemrana Palace Hotel at Neemrana (this is a property managed by the Neemrana Group), this place has its share of charm and exclusivity.... more

I found this hotel through Sawdays and it was also listed in India Chic - it came highly recommended - so what's not to like? My boyfriend and I had 5 days to cover as much Mumbai & environs as we could, so we decided that a trip out to Matheran to this hotel was just the ticket. So, the... more

This was a charming and exotic holiday destination which the family as a whole enjoyed thoroughly....the candle-lit several course dinners....the lazy mornings on the large and completely secluded and quiet verandahs, sipping tea and reading a book, the hammocks and the tree-house (which the kids clambered up and down to with great gusto)...the four-poster beds, the clean and yet quaint... more

We were really looking forward to the 2 nights here as we like the old colonial \ heritage type of hotel in India. We wern't dissapointed. It has the look and feel of a real home rather than a hotel. The rooms we had were petit and peerboy. Petit was a huge room beautifully furnished with dressing room and large... more

One of the most charming places I've ever stayed at. And if you stay here once, I bet you'll never want to set foot in any of those ugly buildings called 'resorts' that crop in most of our hill stations. Over a 100-year property, it is actually located in thick woods and the name 'Verandah in the forest' is apt.... more

We went to Matheran last summer. We did not know what to expect from 'The Verandah in The Forest' It turned out to be a very very sound risk. It is a very old bungalow refurbished into a small boutique hotel. All the rooms have a theme and we were lucky to get a verandah facing room. Teh patio is... more
