The current owners took over the motel about 6 months ago, are very friendly and only too willing to help where they can.
There is a restaurant at the motel, but this is currently closed. There are not a lot of dining options in Charleville, but ask the owners for some recommendations.
The motel is on the outskirts of the main shopping area, but easily walkable if you don't have a car.
Have no hesitation recommending this motel as a good place to stay on your visit to Charleville.
However the rooms are showing their age and are small. Our double bed and bunk single beds are squeezed into a space I presume was originally designed for just a double or queen bed.
This, combined with a price that doesn’t represent good value for money relative to the other motels on our stop, holds us back from recommending Charleville Motel.
Room was clean, and bathroom was modern enough.
There were several air conditioner external units outside the window, and these were noisy most of the night.
Parking was an issue. Initially was tight for a Mitsubishi Triton, and then after returning from dinner someone had parked outside our room, so we had to park elsewhere - every man for themselves!!
As it turned out, and unbeknownst to me, my Premium Queen Room ($145 p/n) was located just several metres from a noisy compressor that cycled sporadically throughout the night, thin walls doing little to reduce sound levels. Following a disrupted night's sleep, I rang reception upon hearing the compressor the next evening to enquire a) if I they were aware of it, and b) if anything could be done.
To my dismay, rather than offering an apology for the noise (originating from a cold room compressor, bolted for some odd to the building's exterior in close proximity to rooms 1 through 4) the proprietor proceeded to roundly abuse me for making the query, in language that doesn't bear repeating here. How bizarre, and incredibly rude to shout at your paying customers over the phone. I just want a quiet night's sleep. Surely that's not too much to ask?
In summary, avoid the premium queen rooms if you value peace and quiet. Avoid this motel entirely if you value customer service and manners; Charleville does not lack for choice in comfortable 3 star accommodation.
