We stayed here the night of our wedding, and have to say the room wasnt that clean and dont think the bathroom had been cleaned after the previous occupier. We only stayed the one night as flying off to our honeymoon the next day Note also that all the it wasnt cheap the breakfast is an extra £11 per head.... more

We stayed at the old tollgate on our wedding night 40 years ago for the first time. have been back 4 times since Best western took over. Last time got upgraded to executive room ,all new. Always get a warm welcome, good food and try to visit the castle ruins.Make the effort it is worth it! more

Pleasant room, reasonable size, clean and quiet, average price. Surprise to see blankets on the bed rather than a duvet. However typical of the hotel, which seemed a bit dated, but service good. The Old Tollgate is a nice hotel in a small village. The actual hotel is nice, however be careful on the room allocation and if you are facing the back, overlooking a yard with bins AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
