We were welcomed by John who was very helpful, showed us around and up to our room. Our room (4) had single beds, was clean and tidy and had everthing we needed. There was no wardrobe. However, there was hanging space but as we were only staying one night this was not a problem. The en-suite was very good. John... More

The welcome I received from all the staff was incredibly friendly. Nothing was too much to ask and they were proactive all the time making sure I was enjoying my stay. The food is excellent both breakfast and dinner. The room, room 5, was very big, clean and well decorated. My only criticism would be that there are no net... More

We were given a massive suit with a cot for out daughter which was obviously once two rooms. There was the bedroom end and the sofa/TV lounge end, my first studio apartment was smaller. It was classically furnished with two huge windows overlooking the sprawling lush park. The bathroom was a decent size and the whole suite was spotlessly clean.... More

We were recommended this hotel for a Sunday lunch. Food was excellent and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The interior decoration was of a high standard and selection of ales good. We were a party 6 and had a fabulous time. Would highly recommend and hopefully will be returning again.

Lovely views from the room and a very spacious room size. The hotel is as grand as it looks on the pictures, with a lively bar and restaurant area and gorgeous food. Great service from staff and a decent breakfast. Only downside the shower, had to have baths as the shower was so weak, but that is all.

Did not stay in the hotel but called in for dinner while in a holiday cottage nearby. The menu was interesting, the food we had was good value and the service way excellent. Not fine dining but not top price either. Well worth a visit if staying nearby.

We stayed 1 night in twin room number 4. It was quiet and warm and very comfortable and cosy. It was central to other Peak Distrist villages and near Chatsworth. (Pemberley in the Pride and Prejudice series with Colin Firth) It is a charming old world hotel with a good cooked breakfast. We didn't really meet any of the staff... More

Phoned before hand to request a table in restaurant, was offered a table in corner of public bar, let that go, until 15 minutes later, the "entertainment" set up at the side of us and then we could not hear each other talking, food was acceptable although there is a banner advertising 2 course for £10 but does not stipulate... We spent four nights here in room two, very large room. Good location for Chatsworth and Haddon Hall. Near to Bakewell and Matlock. Had a great night Friday with music till midnight. The food, Staff and room were great. No meals Sunday night. Try the two steaks and a bottle of wine for £25. We really enjoyed it.
